Book Description

A tie-in edition of Conan Doyle's first Sherlock Holmes novel, with an introduction by Sherlock creator Steven Moffat

Product Description

The hit BBC series Sherlock offers a fresh, contemporary take on the classic Arthur Conan Doyle stories, and has helped introduce a whole new generation of fans to the legendary detective. The debut episode took as its inspiration the very first Sherlock Holmes novel, A Study in Scarlet - and this new edition of Conan Doyle's novel will allow Sherlock fans to discover, or re-discover, the power of that classic story.

A Study in Scarlet is the genre-defining work with which popular crime fiction was born. A potent mix of serial murder, suspense, cryptic clues, red herrings and revenge, the novel introduces us to the world-famous characters of Sherlock Holmes, Dr Watson and Inspector Lestrade and sees Sherlock and Dr Watson meet and join forces for the first time as they track a mysterious killer that stalks London's streets.

In addition to the original text, this edition also has an introduction by Sherlock co-creator Steven Moffat, who explains how it inspired the Sherlock script.

Wow! 15 Jan 2012
By Sophie
Format:Paperback
This book is brilliant! It has a great introduction from Steven Moffat (one of the great writers of BBCs Sherlock)and the book itself is great- but be clear when you buy it: this book is not the BBCs version of Sherlock; it is Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's original.
Though the cover is misleading, this book really is worth buying because it's a really good edition of the book, but like I said, don't be fooled by the cover because it is not the adapted BBC version.

THIS IS THE BOOK 16 April 2012

Well someone once said to me that people who aren't into reading just haven't found the right book yet, well I was once one of those people but then I found this book one day and this IS the book that got me into reading.

The book cover is really amazing and the finish is amazing too, the Benedict and Martin cover really gets those who are into the TV series 'Sherlock' back to where it all started.
This is the first book written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and this book is still my favourite so far out of all the books I have read so far.
Be warned though that this book was written back in the late 19th century so it maybe difficult for some readers who are used to modern day books.

But this book is really amazing and the story made me sad but also happy at the same time, Love, deductions, murder, mystery, and many other themes packed in. What are you waiting for? Buy it!

unlike some cheaper publications this had been changed from the "strand magasine" format which is how you often find the Holmes storys presented, frankly i'd have bought this copy just for the forward.. ok i did, ive owned copys of all the books since i was 12. That said, beautifully presented and you wont find and full stops replaced by "£" as you might in.. for instance.. the kindle version of this book i downloaded for £2 (cant NOT have Conan Doyle on my kindle).
