Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Sherlock Holmes versus Arsène Lupin continues the already highly accomplished gameplay of its predecessor (Sherlock Holmes - The Awakened) , including a firstperson view of an adventure usually played in the third person.

This battle of wits between the most famous detective of all time and the world's greatest thief takes us to late 19th century London. Arsène Lupin is a young French burglar at the beginning of a glittering career, who comes to town with one goal - defy Scotland Yard and Sherlock Holmes.

He states that he will steal five objects of immense value in five days from prestigious sites such as the National Gallery, the British Museum, the Tower of London and even Buckingham Palace! Sherlock Holmes must use all his daring and ingenuity to avoid a terrible humiliation for England.

3.0 out of 5 stars Holmes: Could Do Better!, 4 Jun 2008
By Helenreddjedet (Romford, Essex) - See all my reviews
Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
Sherlock Holmes: Nemesis doesn't pitch The Master against Moriarty as you might think but rather the dastardly fictional French burglar, Arsene Lupin who baits Holmes with a series of riddles as to the next great British treasure he is going to steal in order to bring shame on the Empire.
As Lupin is all about nicking British assets, the game is based in London's museums, galleries and famous landmarks which does feel somewhat limited, given the scope of The Awakened when Holmes and the ever-trusty Watson did a bit of globe trotting as far as New Orleans and most of Europe.
The puzzles are also not quite as challenging and if you're not into paintings, you will be bored after the first hour.
The graphics are certainly authentic; if you've been to the British Museum, you'll know what I mean and I have to applaud the designers for that.
One word of warning is to turn off your anti-virus software when you install and also when you are playing as I found the odd Norton message box popping up in the middle of proceedings and it crashed the game.
Not terrible but certainly not the best of the series.

3.0 out of 5 stars A difficult game, 20 Aug 2008
By Bob - See all my reviews

Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This is one of the most dificult games I have played, but somehow although it was well written and the puzzles were in the main logical unlike the previous Sherlock Holmes games I could not relate to the characters. There may be one bug where I was stuck in the Director's office and could not access the map, tried a walkthrough and had done everything, eventually helped by the folk at "gameboomers" with a save file. The only other comment is that some of the hot spots were extreemly dificult to find.
Only 3 stars as I did not enjoy it very much but it certainly made me think and it was a satisfyingly long game.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Worthy Addition to Series, 26 Jun 2009
By D. R. Clarke - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
I have a soft spot for the Sherlock Holmes games produced by Frogwares - they have their weaknesses and are not cutting edge visually, but I do feel they capture the essential characteristics of Holmes and Watson really well. This is proving quite a sedately paced adventure so far (have not finished it yet) with Holmes pitted against a gentleman thief in the form of French literary figure, Arsene Lupin. Plotwise, some of the highly elaborate series of clues laid by Arsene Lupin - at the British Museum, for example - do stretch credulity at times, but this is still a nicely entertaining adventure, with some fiendishly difficult puzzles to boot. Probably for adventure fans only, but if you do enjoy these sort of games, this is a worthy addition to your collection.
