Following the sequence of stories in "The Complete Adventures of Sherlock Holmes", each photograph date from the same year as the story, and each photograph, reproduced in glorious duotone, is captioned with historical details. Each location is precisely pinpointed on a Victorian A-Z map, allowing the enthusiast to visit the sites in person.
