Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

New gameplay, new third-person view and new lighting effects for a new adventure!

Though keeping with the traditional Point & Click gameplay style of adventure games, The Awakened has now been totally rebuilt in 3D, offering a whole new third-person view, while keeping the classic game mechanics of the original first-person view also available.

Recognized as one of the greatest adventure game licenses of our time, the Sherlock Holmes series returns with this updated version of the award-winning The Awakened, which brings a whole new angle to the series.

It's 19th century England, and following a string of shocking disappearances on London's fog-choked streets, the nation trembles with fear. You, as history's most famed detective, aim to loosen terror's grip on the city by tailing the perpetrators to the ends of the Earth in the epic 3D adventure Sherlock Holmes - The Awakened.

Inspired by the works of acclaimed horror author H.P. Lovecraft, this globe-spanning saga of suspense and terror pits the master sleuth against his most dangerous foe yet â€" a fanatical cult seemingly devoted to ancient, evil god Cthulhu. From Baker Street to Bale, Louisiana to Scotland, hunt for hidden clues with the help of faithful companion Dr. Watson, while solving fiendish puzzles and thwarting the forces of darkness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sherlock 27 Nov 2009
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Really enjoyable game, although it is very gory, with dead bodies appearing everywhere. The mental hospital in Switzerland was really creepy. I found it to be quite difficult, so had to use a walkthrough to get past certain parts of the game. Not a critisism however, as I have to do this with most games.

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I like this game as it provides variety between going into spooky places and a psychiatric hospital and going to different places. The remastered version will play well on vista and windows 7 - it must be bought as it has the required dvd patch.
I used the walkthrough, but some bits were easy to work out by myself. Quite gory in one bit though if you are squeamish and sensitive.

Much better with third person---first person tends to make one a little dizzy so hope all future games will be at least a choice of third person --very good and enjoyable game.

1.0 out of 5 stars Tedious. 6 Jun 2011

Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
I have 64bit Windows7 and enjoy gaming. I've never played this kind of game before so have nothing to compare it with, but I don't think much of it. The movements of the characters are jerky, the background is lifeless, and the gameplay frustrating. Others have described the story-line so I won't repeat it, but I found the gaming slow and tedious, and even with practice the controls are poor. No recommendation from me.
