Product Description

The villagers of the tiny hamlet of La Morte Rouge in Canada are terrified - a legendary glowing monster has reappeared, flitting through the nearby fog shrouded marshes, sheep have been found dead, their throats cut. Holmes and Watson are attending a meeting of the Royal Canadian Occult Society when Lord Penrose hears of his wife's death. Holmes offers his help which Lord Penrose declines. But a letter delivered to Holmes and Watson written by Lady Penrose before her death, expressing a vague fear for her life and pleading with him to come to the village. Holmes and Watson instantly cancel their plans to return to London. As Holmes says: ""Consider the tragic irony: We've accepted commission from a victim to find her murderer. For the first time we're retained by a corpse.

By Darren Harrison VINE™ VOICE
For only the second time Rathbone's Holmes and Watson are taken out of London (the first was their visit to Washington), this time into the Canadian backwoods.
Some strange apparition appearing in the village, La Morte Rouge (The Red death), kills Lady Penrose. Holmes travels to the village to look into the murder but is met with hostillity from the people. Soon, more murders take place, and the villagers place their blame on the monster of the village.
What follows is one of the darker entries in the series with the worlds most famous consulting detective putting the pieces of the mystery together in an adventure that bares more than a passing resemblence to the earlier "Hound of the Baskervilles".
Definately recommended and I look forward to the day when all of Rathbone's Holmes adventures will be available on DVD.

I have got both, the European version from Orbit Media and the American version from MPI Home Video. Orbit Media's version, which has not been digitally remastered at all and taken from an awful source, is horrible compared to the American verison!!! So be warned!
