Whenever I ask anyone if they remember a film called 'Sherlock Bones' as a child?, they either laugh or look puzzled. Generally, they have never even heard of it never mind actually having seen it.
'Sherlock Bones' might be seen as 'dated' now but as a child I really enjoyed it. It's a nice movie for kids, amusing and good music. It's about a boy called Billy who is preparing for a summer holiday on the beautiful island of Catalina. There he meets Sherlock, a talking Scottish police dog. However, he only speaks to Billy and together they help catch smugglers on the island.
I've read some bad reviews for this 1994 film, some say the acting is 'wooden', but come on - it's good enough for a nice film aimed at youngsters. There's a story here, likable characters and nice settings. If your looking for a movie that kids will like - I think 'Sherlock Bones' will entertain them. It certainly made me smile every time I saw it.
