A truly lovely read, poignant yet funny. It gives a real insight into the day to day running of the R.N.l.I. yet is still the story of "one man and his dog"
In a time when many authors rely on shocking details to sell their books, this book stands out as a "good read" that needs no sensationalism. Definitely a book that would be well received as a birthday present or in a "Christmas stocking"
An absolute must for any animal lover.

I first met John in The Sovereign and later in the Sussex Yacht Club at Shoreham by Sea in the 90's and yes, he liked to drink a lot; but, I think it was more that he needed the company. I must admit that I didn't know anything about Shelley.

I enjoyed reading about him, his partnership with Shelley and the antics they got up to but, oh dear John. Whilst reading I planned to say that you really must get yourself a proof-reader before writing any more books. Then I discover that you have already got some; so now I don't know what to say, except that you need to pay them more!

For impending readers, be prepared for probably the most inconsistent, inaccurate spelling; the total lack of punctuation and the most typos you will have come across in just one short story.

Otherwise, enjoy! Oh, and you may need a box of tissues for Chapter 36.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this easy to read, and at times moving, autobiographic account of one man's life focusing on the time in it when he owned a labrador named Shelley and joined Shoreham Harbour RNLI lifeboat crew. Just goes to show that there is no such thing as an ordinary life!

I absolutely loved this book, knowing Shoreham and the surrounding areas well.

A lovely story and a lovely relationship between man and dog.

Would definitely recommend.

Life can throw us a number of curved balls, some we anticipate, others not. What counts is how we deal with them
and who walks alongside us through those difficult times. The writer has had his fair share of curved balls
thrown at him, some even created by himself, yet he continues his journey, with his best friend at his side
and shares his adventure.

This journey is a reflection of another's true life experience, the RNLA and man's best friend. A light hearted
read with humour and the love of a friend, Shelley.

I found this good but at times he goes over the same things. Loved the dog and cried when he was put to sleep.

Ok so I finished this book.. its not book I d read again , mainly because it just didnt keep my interest,I thought it would be more about the dog and the connections with the life boat..its not. Its more about one mans life with his dog.. Dog lovers will enjoy it. Im not so sure about anyone else. It was a freebie. Id not pay more than 99p for it.

Disappointing story content. The dog has little involvement with lifeboats. Shelley meets people that are drinking with her owner and she often opens packets of crisps - as a trick ? Story about the owner having an interest in life boats as a volunteer, and he enthusiastically joins in all social activity he can ! ie he loves a good drink !

I just loved it, just a really simple story to warm your heart! A story of a man and his dog forging an excellent partnership, many anecdotes and characters. I really enjoyed it and it brought back many memories of my own dog, Shelley, from many years ago.

This book had far too many formatting errors when it was downloaded to my Kindle. The story was lovely, but there were so many errors that it totally put me off of reading the book I am afraid which is a pity as it had so much potential.
