Product Description

Review

"Move over Shopaholic. With perfect comic sleight of hand. She'll Take It chronicles the adventure of the most neurotic public enemy ever to hit the Big Apple. It should be a crime to have this much fun reading a book." --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

Product Description

In life you should use your talents. Right? But what if your main talent – and obsession – is for lifting pretty, expensive objects and dropping them into your handbag?

Melanie knows she’s got to stop, and she will. She’s just waiting for the right moment. The problem is, she’s just too damn good at theft. Maybe she needs to get caught? But then when Drew, sexy, caring, sweet – and a loss-prevention lawyer with a peculiar aversion to the light-fingered in life – comes her way, her day of reckoning could be closer than she expected.

I have read a lot of chick lit books in my time and this is now one of my all time faves. The main characters are extremely believable and have very distinct and likeable personalities (well except the ones you are supposed to hate lol). The storyline develops well and it is one of those books you are sneaking a read of at the slightest opportunity.

Melanie's imagination goes off on little tangents and her little white lies get her into almost as much trouble as her stealing. Even if you're not a Klepto, anyone with some sort of addictive personality (shopping/chocolate in my case) will relate to certain aspects of Melanie's character. I never really thought of myself liking a thief but I adored Melanie and could understand how she became one - and I was so glad she got her man in the end (which one though - I'm not telling)! the book does not in anyway promote stealing and Melanie does learn her lesson - I definitely enjoyed a story based around Kleptomania as I never really knew much about it before.

Mary Carter is a very talented author and I have already ordered her other book! Warning - you WILL laugh out loud if you are a chick lit fan.

Extremely Funny 15 May 2007

Again this book is another one that makes you laugh out loud.

This was my first Mary Carter book and as a fan of the Little Black Dress books I thought I would give it a go.

The book overall was very good - the character of Melanie got a little annoying at times but could be because I can't really relate to a klypto - the love story angle of it was a bit slow but was possibly the best part to it.

Very good read overall.

Steal this book! 18 Jan 2007
Format:Paperback
I have a confession to make, I am a thief! Every chance I get I steal a moment to read Mary Carters book "She'll Take It!". Twenty minutes hear, forty-five minutes there, an hour here (if I am really lucky and don't get caught). I can't help myself, I have to read this book! I wish I could just sit down and finish the whole thing in one sitting - its a page turner! Its rare I laugh out loud from a book, but I constantly found myself doing so at every cafe', every bus ride, every morning before the kids get up. Whenever (and wherever) I can find a quiet moment to steal, I take it!

Melanie Zeitgar is a completely real and likable character. The book made me feel like I was eavesdropping on a handful of girlfriends in some outta the way cafe' in New York City. It felt like a real life version of "Sex and the City" (where people actually worry about their next paycheck). On top of that you get to do something that has eluded single men everywhere for ages - you get a rare look into the mind of a real women and hear how she thinks! The BBC would have a goldmine of good programming if they green lit this authors property!
