The love scenes were great... 17 Mar 2011
By N. Fisher - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
but the story overall was lacking in substance. I know...most people would think, don't all romance books lack substance? For all of those you die hard romance lovers we all know that is completely untrue! I tend to lean towards Historical romances myself, but I like to give all romance a fair shot.

The start of this book was odd...Kahlil had an obsession with Lucy right off the bat, it never explains why...the first love scene is immediate, I want to say like page 6??? They just met for god sakes...and what woman just does it with a guy she met only minutes ago? That first off...is odd. Then the story leaps forward 2 years...well ok. Sometimes authors have to do that to progress the story.

Not to give too much away, but the love scenes were great, it was always very hot and passionate...but the development between the two characters was laughing. In most romance novels I've read there's a great deal of self dialogue between the two love interests so that you can see, feel, read the romance blooming. This book focused very little on Kahlil's growing love and more on Lucy's...ok...not terribly unnatural...but the end was SO abrupt! It ends with his confessing...and not ONCE did she tell him. Eh...so as romance's go...of course there was turmoil with instant dislike but insane attraction between the two...followed by a happy ending...

The ending was not that satisfying to me. Mostly because lack of character development and seeing the feelings change on both sides. I gave it three stars because it didn't suck, but it wasn't fantastic.

just a lot of lusting for the other 10 April 2012

Interior-designer wins the contract to renovate a palace in the Middle East. She gets to live there with her 1-year-old son to stay until her work is finished. It came as a huge surprise to see her 1-night lover & find out that he's the grandson of the reigning sheikh. It surprises Hero too to see heroine once again & especially when he finds out that he fathered their son. Heroine's stay there becomes complicated when Hero threatens to be an active part of their son's life & to make him stay there with him. She's made to choose to be married to him for 6 months for their son's legitimization or leave the country without him.

Hero & heroine clearly had a strong sexual attraction. But a romance is another story. They had a 1-night stand after having just met & Hero left without any message or any future contact. Heroine didn't even know his full name or his real identity yet he blames her (and she takes it!) for not letting him know she got pregnant! He was an arrogant & controlling jerk who was only concerned with his wants. Heroine, as independent & forward-thinking as she was, acted like a doormat to this jerk. She was mentally weakened by her lust for him. And I'm not convinced she was really in love with him because they didn't even know each other at their 1st meeting and her time with him at the palace was full of him threatening her, blaming her, & clearly only wanting sex & custody of their son from her. The I-love-you on Hero's part at the end was totally laughable. It came out of nowhere & didn't convince me at all. It just made heroine look even more stupid for believing it. Their HEA is very doubtful if/when heroine wakes up and acts more consistently like the smart, assertive, & independent woman that she is.

It's not the worst but not much to recommend as a romance.
