Book Description

To Tame a Sheikh

He’d noticed her across a crowded room and in that instant Sheikh Shaheen Aal Shalaan wanted her. With just a few words, Shaheen had his mystery woman in his bed, where she awakened passions he’d long denied. His lineage demanded he take a wife of the throne’s choosing. Yet how could he turn away from the woman who carried his baby?

His Thirty-Day Fiancée

He’d caught her red-handed…and Duarte Medina would use this to his advantage. No reporter infiltrated the royal family, especially not via his bedroom window! If Kate Harper wanted her story, she’d have to agree to his terms – to become his temporary fiancée. Kate would be his for the next thirty days. And if Duarte had his way…thirty nights as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful desert romance 13 Oct. 2010
Format:Kindle Edition
If you want to read a story of true love, belief, and enduring passion - this is the one for you. Shaheen prince of Zohayd sees a woman across a crowded room and all though of duty and arranged marriages fly from his thoughts as he sees the woman who completes him - his heart, his soul mate his everything. Johara has loved him since she was a child and lived in the royal palace where her father was the keeper of the royal jewels and wanted to see Shaheen once more before he marries for poilitical reasons but that is not to be. Passion is immediate and the love scenes are both intense and gentle and totally beliveable. When the chance comes for the Big Misunderstanding Olivia Gates goes against the normal and doesn't take it! Our hero believes in our heroine to the last drop of his blood. He will do anything for her - one of my favourite lines is ''He took her from gravity as he wished to from everything that caused her worry' How romantic! Can't wait for the stories of the other brothers Herres and Amjad!

5.0 out of 5 stars Would they get their chance at love? 10 Nov. 2010
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Recently, author Olivia Gates was quoted in an interview saying she wanted to write this triloloy, Pride of Zohayd for years. To Tame a Sheikh was everything Gates desired it to be and more for this reader as her desert prince and his once childhood friend Joharea were truly magnificent characters and lovers. Their love story was ¡°most intense, romantic, and a devoted love story.¡± It was magical to read!

As a child, Zohara Nazaryan and her family resided in the palace in the kingdom of Zohayd as her father was the royal jeweler. Her brother had been best friends with the King¡¯s youngest son, Prince Shaheen. From the moment Zohara had set eyes on this older young man, she loved and adored him. And then as he grew older his distanced himself from she and her family and she never understood why.

Shaheen had advised his father he would accept an arranged bride but he also promised a friend before leaving, he would attend a party. Johara knew the man she had always loved was going to attend a party in his honor and she wanted to see him as it had been twelve long years. Then their eyes locked, he sought her out but for some reason he didn¡¯t recognize her but he wanted her with such intensity, it sizzled off of the pages. He took her to his room, took her virginity and made love taking both of their breath away. In the morning she left and Shaheen had no idea of her last name or how to contact her.

Eight weeks earlier, Johara¡¯s dreams came true when she laid in the arms of the man she had adored and loved. Now she was back in Zohayd to help her father as he was going to retire.

5.0 out of 5 stars To Tame A Sheikh 27 Nov. 2010

Format:Mass Market Paperback
To Tame a Sheikh (Silhouette Desire)

Pride of Zohayd Trilogy

To Tame A Sheikh
Shaheen & Johara's Story
Sheikh Shaheen Aal Shalaan & Johara Nazaryan

This is the first book in the Pride of Zohayd Trilogy. This book takes us back to a time of innocence and promise. Shaheen & Johara's love story is not an ordinary one and the path to true love is not an easy one.
Johara was all of six years old when she first encounters the love of her life Sheikh Shaheen a fourteen year old friend of her brother Aram. As the daughter of the Royal Jeweler she is in and out of the palace. While playing she loses her footing and stumbles over a ledge. While her father tries to get help she sees Shaheen down below. He encourages her to jump. He promises and encourages her to jump. It is a leap of faith for young Johara but her trust in Shaheen is never ending.
Johara and Shaheen go separate ways and it would be nearly fifteen years before their explosive reunion. One that will leave them in no doubt that their love is real and everlasting.
When they meet up years later at a party Johara wants just one more night with Shaheen before he has to return to Zohayd to his royal duties to marry a royal princess to calm the region and prevent war.
At the party Shaheen sees Johara across the room unknown that it is his childhood friend. All he knows is that he must have her. He feels like he has known her forever. She introduces herself as Gemma hoping that he recognizes her, he doesn't. Their mutual attraction leads to a night of lovemaking. Shaheen is amazed when he finds out that Gemma is a virgin. He knows at that moment he must have her. Johara knows that they will never be able to be together so leaves before he wakes. Shaheen is crazy with wonderment and needs Gemma. He looks for her everywhere but she seems to have vanished off the face of the earth. Shaeen wants her as he has wanted no other woman.
Their next meeting is at Zohayd where a bevy of brides to be await Shaheen. He knows he can't marry any of them. All he thinks about is Gemma "Johara". When he sees her at the palace he realizes his Gemma is really Johara. He refuses to give her up. The pressure builds and incidents happen that try to ruin the love between these two lovers.
Shaheen would give everything up just to be with Johara. His brothers unite to make sure that the sweethearts have a chance at true love. Together and united the brotherhood holds strong and surprising results happen.
There are parts of this story that will make you laugh and you know it's only a matter of time before the other two brothers will have their day of reckoning.
In the end love is truly stronger than all the parties included can believe. This is a case of unrequited first love that lasts a lifetime.

This is a story of unrequited love and reunion.
Your first love is the one you remember and dream of no matter where you are. If you are lucky enough to share that love for a lifetime you are blessed.

No author captures love at every stage as does Olivia Gates. This story makes you believe in love everlasting.
This story is a five star read. A MUST read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful story of love against adversity 15 Mar. 2012
By Fiona - Published on
What can you say about a book where the hero loves and believes in his true love almost from the first moment? Olivia Gates takes her lovers, Shaheen and Johara, and places their romance in a situation where things like a sense of duty and external influences threaten to tear them apart. In a genre where misunderstanding and angst between the protagonists is the usual way to drive the conflict this book came as a pleasant surprise. There was plenty of tension and anxiety but the relationship between Hero and Heroine remained a shining light throughout. Olivia writes great prose and brings out emotions that engage and sex scenes that sizzle. I listened to this book on audio on my kindle while driving and became so involved I continued to listen once I arrived home against my usual practice.

5.0 out of 5 stars In an ocean of romantic novelists, Olivia Gates stands head and shoulders above the rest! 12 Feb. 2012
By Angela - Published on
Format:Mass Market Paperback
FINALLY I found a love story that has both romance "that makes you tingle all over" and a guy who knows how to act like a real man!

Why can't more romantic novels be written like Olivia Gates' "To Tame a Sheikh"? I'm so tired of "romantic" novels where the guy is cruel, obnoxious, a control-freak (you get the picture :) throughout the whole book and then he just says two little words (I'm sorry) at the end, and everything's supposed to be ok! And we're supposed to believe they live "happily ever after"? Sounds kind of unrealistic to me.

But this book is a refreshing change because the man treats the woman with respect - he doesn't just have sex with her to satisfy his own needs. He makes love to her because he's IN love with her - which makes it a much more enjoyable read.

The part that stood out the most was; when he was told something negative about the woman, he had the decency to keep an open mind and not just believe the worst about her. Hallelujah - finally a story written like a true romantic novel!

I can't tell you how often I've read "love stories" that seemed more like "war stories" because someone believed the negative gossip/rumors about someone else. We can all take this as a reminder to treat others the way we'd like to be treated. And it was a treat to read a novel that reflected that.

The story was well written also - very intense and passionate, something I could really "sink my teeth into". And there was still plenty of drama and conflict to keep the story interesting.

I can't wait to read Olivia Gates' other works!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Reviewed by Desere Steenberg 12 Nov. 2013

Your eyes meet across the room and in a instant the attraction is so sizzling you immediately know there is no way going to bed alone is going to happen.

But the explosive night that follows can get you into more trouble then just getting pregnant. What on earth you may ask could be more serious and life altering that?

The fact that the father of your baby has figured out who you really are, and is torn between upholding his duty to his country and the commitment to his unborn child.

From that alone you can tell this is one totally, amazing read and from page one right through till the end I was captivated, entranced and completely in love with the characters.

The read tells of Sheikh Shaheen Aal Shalaan, he sees Johara across the room and instant attraction flares, but when morning comes and he discovers she is no one other than his childhood friend he is understandably in shock and furious!

But the real shocker comes when he leans of her expecting his child and the very real reality that he might need to let her and the baby go in order to appease his tradition.

The character of Shaheen was remarkably well written, I fell head over heals in love with him but he also made me cry. I felt so sorry for him having to face his duties and try to fight the battle of falling for the wrong woman. It reminded me that life is never easy but for others life is so much harder because of the responsibilities they have.

Jorhara was a character that totally blew my mind. She knows what she wants and she goes after it but afterwards as with many of us it comes down to " this was a great plan but now the results are not quite what they were meant to be and now? What do I do now?".

This link to reality was superb and I adore the author for showing that sometimes no all our plans are meant to be carried out.

I recommend this read for all fans of Olivia Gates books, she writes strong and emotionally packed reads with to die for characters and gorgeous settings!

" He needs to chose between his duty and love"

5.0 out of 5 stars The first Pride of Zohayd book is absolutely enchanting 1 Nov. 2010
By A. Richard - Published on
Format:Mass Market Paperback
The Pride of Zohayd trilogy begins with a beautifully told story of profound romantic love, where readers will feel as though they are experiencing every situation from the extremely detailed descriptions. Olivia Gates adeptly transports you right into the heart of each moment depicted in TO TAME A SHEIKH, as situations are emotionally affecting with so much realism.

Although it has been many years since Johara Nazaryan has spoken with Sheikh Shaheen Aal Shalaan, she has never forgotten the Prince of Zohayd whom she came to love when she was a girl. She attends a party given for him because he will soon wed a not yet chosen woman in order to help his kingdom, as she just wanted to see him up close one more time. When Johara and Shaheen meet at the celebration, he may not recognize her since much time has passed, but he wants her and some delightful banter results in her spending the night with him.

Shaheen does not like being forced into a political match, and he cannot imagine marrying someone he does not even know after being with Johara. When it is revealed the woman of his dreams is actually someone from his past, he now knows why their connection was so potent. While the night was even more fulfilling than either could have imagined, they both know her ancestry is not one which would ever be approved for being his wife. However, when the night they were together has a long-lasting consequence, future choices become further complicated as repercussions must be averted.

The intensity of every scene written by Olivia Gates for TO TAME A SHEIKH makes for compellingly mesmeric enjoyment. Whether the scene contains a confrontation between two strong-willed men or describes a tender encounter during intimacy, the moment comes alive through words and actions which realistically portray any inner feelings. Sometimes just a small gesture will giveaway what a person may not say, and this lets the reader gain insight into the motives driving someone. Ms. Gates has a way of letting her characters express their thoughts and feelings in an exceedingly poetic manner, and the beauty of these words will draw you even more into the scene. Shaheen is not only a prince of his kingdom but is also an influential businessman, and his alpha side comes out when dealing with these areas. However, from the instant he is near Johara, he becomes a fantasy hero with his caring ways and deep devotion. His ability to unconditionally trust her greatly touched me and my admiration for him grew with each new declaration. Johara is also an individual for whom I have a high regard, as she is willing to sacrifice much for Shaheen and his country. These two definitely have passionate natures, and Ms. Gates creates a steamy atmosphere for them where their love for the other is communicated with fervent kisses and even hotter touches. A mystery is started in this story, and I cannot wait to see the direction it finally leads. Shaheen has two older brothers whose stories are yet to come, and I am exceedingly eager to learn more after meeting both of these fascinating men. TO TAME A SHEIKH is an intensely affecting love story, where passions are fiery and hearts are tested.
