The Pride of Zohayd trilogy begins with a beautifully told story of profound romantic love, where readers will feel as though they are experiencing every situation from the extremely detailed descriptions. Olivia Gates adeptly transports you right into the heart of each moment depicted in TO TAME A SHEIKH, as situations are emotionally affecting with so much realism.
Although it has been many years since Johara Nazaryan has spoken with Sheikh Shaheen Aal Shalaan, she has never forgotten the Prince of Zohayd whom she came to love when she was a girl. She attends a party given for him because he will soon wed a not yet chosen woman in order to help his kingdom, as she just wanted to see him up close one more time. When Johara and Shaheen meet at the celebration, he may not recognize her since much time has passed, but he wants her and some delightful banter results in her spending the night with him.
Shaheen does not like being forced into a political match, and he cannot imagine marrying someone he does not even know after being with Johara. When it is revealed the woman of his dreams is actually someone from his past, he now knows why their connection was so potent. While the night was even more fulfilling than either could have imagined, they both know her ancestry is not one which would ever be approved for being his wife. However, when the night they were together has a long-lasting consequence, future choices become further complicated as repercussions must be averted.
The intensity of every scene written by Olivia Gates for TO TAME A SHEIKH makes for compellingly mesmeric enjoyment. Whether the scene contains a confrontation between two strong-willed men or describes a tender encounter during intimacy, the moment comes alive through words and actions which realistically portray any inner feelings. Sometimes just a small gesture will giveaway what a person may not say, and this lets the reader gain insight into the motives driving someone. Ms. Gates has a way of letting her characters express their thoughts and feelings in an exceedingly poetic manner, and the beauty of these words will draw you even more into the scene. Shaheen is not only a prince of his kingdom but is also an influential businessman, and his alpha side comes out when dealing with these areas. However, from the instant he is near Johara, he becomes a fantasy hero with his caring ways and deep devotion. His ability to unconditionally trust her greatly touched me and my admiration for him grew with each new declaration. Johara is also an individual for whom I have a high regard, as she is willing to sacrifice much for Shaheen and his country. These two definitely have passionate natures, and Ms. Gates creates a steamy atmosphere for them where their love for the other is communicated with fervent kisses and even hotter touches. A mystery is started in this story, and I cannot wait to see the direction it finally leads. Shaheen has two older brothers whose stories are yet to come, and I am exceedingly eager to learn more after meeting both of these fascinating men. TO TAME A SHEIKH is an intensely affecting love story, where passions are fiery and hearts are tested.
