I bought this as I am interested in Alan Ecclestone, one of the trouble makers in the book, whom I knew as a child in his retirement. However, I found myself reading the whole book as it was well written and provided interesting potted histories of some real rebels with a cause. Great for anyone who needs their faith in humanity restoring, or who admires those who put others first, even if it got them into trouble!

A good historical review of the radicals and progressives who struggled for change in Sheffield. The recent ones well illustrate the difficulties that can be encountered when trouble makers become policy makers!

I'd seen this book before but now I have had a chance to read it, I am very intrigued by the history of the city I have lived in for many years. You need not be a specialist to find this fascinating.
