For the uninitiated, this is a good place to start, as Shed Seven were one of the best singles bands of the britpop era. However, despite the album's title, this collection of songs features a number of versions which were not issued as singles:
- "Mark" is the longer, re-recorded Album Version from Change Giver.
- "Dolphin" is the 1999 re-recorded version, released on the Going For Gold compilation titled "Dolphin '99".
- "Speakeasy" is the Chris Sheldon Mix from Going For Gold.
- "Ocean Pie" is the 1999 re-recorded version from Going For Gold.
- "Chasing Rainbows" is the Stephen Street Mix from Let It Ride.
- "Devil In Your Shoes" is the longer Album Version, also from Let It Ride.
- "Step Inside Your Love" is the longer Album Version from Truth Be Told.
If you're a fan, you'll probably already own this for disc 2 alone, as the rarities on offer are well worth adding to your collection. Included are several demos, the real rarity being "Girls World", an old fan favourite recorded in 1993. There's also "Hijack" (the rejected lead single for the Going For Gold compilation), the "Disco Down" demo, and two demos of tracks that may have featured on the Let It Ride follow-up album, but were subsequently scrapped when Banks left the line-up - taking the songs with him for use with The Rising - and the band left Polydor Records, in 1999.
You also get the brass-less, rejected version of "Going For Gold" from 1995, along with two b-sides-that-never-were from the unreleased "High Hopes" single in 1999.
Worth buying for old and new fans alike.
