Only months later would Kristina allow herself to consider why Celeste ordered her not to mention the name of Tracey Tarlton to the police, even though many times throughout that strange summer she wondered about the odd relationship between her mother and the bright, funny woman who managed a large Austin bookstore. Read the first page

I'd highly recommend this book. Once I got started, I couldn't put the thing down. It was so good that my boss caught me reading it at work so many times that I thought I was about to get booted. I got hooked. The three women are fascinating, and I got this really clear picture of who they are and what it's like in their world, in Texas, where everything is big, including Steve Beard's fortune. (Beard is the victim.) I'd give this book to a friend in a hearbeat, for a birthday present, and I know they'd thank me.
Excellent read. One I'd highly recommend!

and you are despairing that she cannot write fast enough. Who do you turn to? Well, you can do far worse than pick up one of Kathryn Casey's books. This one, in particular, is written with an uncanny insight into the lives of the main characters. Far from dwelling on the more unsavoury aspects of a true crime, Casey takes time to make us actually care. For me, as an avid true crime reader, this is the most important aspect of a good story-telling, and with a tale as convoluted and belief beggering as this one, she manages to bring it all together and make sense of a totally senseless situation.I will not give away any of the plot but if you think that this is just another run-of-the-mill gold-digger tale, Celeste would be horrified... She was anything but ordinary. Buy it.

This book arrived in reasonable condition but the photograph pages were loose which proved to be a nuisance . However,it's a totally compelling story of the worst kind of woman, and a complete page turner.

This is possibly the best Kathryn Casey book-except that I think that about each one so far! She has the ability to focus on the facts yet present evidence in an easily understood way.As good as Ann Rule
