Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg's hilarious 'Zom-Rom-Com' gets a soundtrack to come back from the dead for with this lively compilation. No stranger to music, Wright reveals once again his deft, Tarantino-esque ability to assemble a selection of songs that truly capture the spirit of his work. His soundtrack for 'Spaced' showed his diverse, hip and sometimes wonderfully tongue-in-cheek music taste, and Shaun of the Dead is no exception. Interspersed with choice cuts of dialogue from the movie are memorable Electro tunes from Grandmaster Flash - 'White Lines' used to great comedy effect in the film - a terrific intro in I Monster's crazy 'The Blue Wrath', old favourite 'Panic' by the Smiths and The Specials' timeless 'Ghost Town' which are all slyly suitable in tone and lyric for the movie. The really fun stuff comes in the form of a remix of 'The Gonk' from George Romero's original Dawn of the Dead, a creepy remix by Lemon Jelly of Peter Cetera's 'If You Leave Me Now', not to mention a secret bonus track featuring Keith Chegwin. Along with some eerie score selections, it all adds up to a truly enjoyable, carefully assembled and relevant soundtrack to the fun movie. Wright also chose to 'out' himself as a 'closet Queen fan', and just try listening to Queen's 'Don't Stop Me Now' without picturing the perfectly-timed beating to death of a zombie. Listen to this one on your commute to work. It may open your eyes.

I've only just brought this CD recently from Amazon and I really, really love it. All the tracks listed are really good and there's some snippets of dialogue from the film included on most of the track.
Anyone who has seen the film, loved the music in it and is thinking of buying this CD then for the love of God go and get it. You won't be disappointed.

We're coming to get you Barbara!, 25 July 2006

Absolutley loved the film, so i had to buy the album too!
From start to finish this is a gem, a great accompaniment to the best Britsh comedy this century. For zombie buffs there are the samples from George Romero's 'Dead' trilogy, as well as legendary tracks like Queen's 'Dont Stop Me Now', 'Ghost Town' by The Specials and 'White Lines' by Grandmaster Flash. Also watch out for newer tunes by Ash and a hidden track at the end set to 'The Gonk'.
What makes this album great though are the various dialogue samples from the film, which suitably captures the atmosphere of the film's highs and lows.
Oh and you've got to love Cheggers in the bonus track!
