2. Handy Keyboard and Mouse Controls guide card: Save time and lives - colour coded for instant access and rapid command find.

Shattered Horizon is the innovative game from Futuremark Games Studio that immerses you in the cold reality of combat in space like no other game before. Man is back on the Moon and the companies that took him there are reaping huge profits. Their greed soon leads to the largest mining accident in history. A catastrophic explosion throws billions of tons of rocky debris into near-Earth space, its aftershocks threatening to tear the Moon itself apart. Two sides are drawn into an armed conflict. Desperate battles are fought over strategic locations and the scant supplies from Earth. Control of the Arc now means the difference between survival and death in the cold of space.
This multiplayer first-person shooter is played entirely in 3D zero gravity. Shattered Horizon challenges you to take your FPS skills to the next level adapting what you have learned on the battlefield to create new tactics in a fully three dimensional battle space.

Game Engine and Technology: In-house engine evolved from the technology that powers 3DMark Vantage. Optimized for PhysX and multi-core PCs and supports up to 32 players simultaneously.
Game Modes:

  • Battle – real-time map domination control points capture,
  • Assault – turn based attack/defend control points capture,
  • Skirmish – highest final score Team Deathmatch.

Fun:
A Unique FPS multiplayer experience from FGS the people behind bechmarking software Futuremark, forget your battlefields, call of duty and CS:S, Shattered Horizon takes the fight to the space (remaining fragments of the moon to be exact)and doing so makes the game so much more enjoyable.

At the moment there are 8 maps, 6 guns (Sniper Rifle, Machine Gun, Assault Rifle, SubMachine Gun, Shotgun and Pistol. ) and 1 melee weapon - mining pick, a grenade pistol (with 6 grenade types) and 3 gamemodes (assault, battle & skirmish), the game is due a big update in coming weeks, if rumours are to belived then we'll get more gamemodes and maps. As gaming communites go this is most friendly & mature i have ever played with, the Devs read & respond in forums with the community to make the game better.

For £10 its a bargain, get it now :)

make sure you have windows vista/7 and directx10 graphics card, otherwise the game won't work.

as with every new game it takes some time getting use to it, with 360 combat even more so.

We Need New Targets, er, I mean blood, I mean more meat.... 29 Sep 2010
By David W. Galbraith - Published on Amazon.com
Fun:
Been playing this game since May 1st 2010. I've put in 40 hour weeks. After playing it I had real trouble enjoying any kind of First Person Shooter. The freedom of movement, the level of difficulty, the astounding physics and the 'pinball effect" (never know was crazy stuff you're going to see) has no rival. Nothing better than getting a tankshot, for instance. In fact, it's fun even if someone shoots YOU in the tank! Just installed the new beta Nvidia drive 260.63 and I was shocked at how nice the game looked. I'd always known it was a beauty, but that new driver really did something for it.

The game code is kept close to the vest and there has yet to be a hack introduced to this game. There are no aimbots, no wall hacks, nothing like that. A 15 year old kid who calls himself Danson found a couple bugs that let you travel really fast (normally you require an MPR boost to do it), but he has taught everyone who's wanted to learn exactly how to do what he does!

Just so you know, a lot of us are 30 to 50 year olds (I heard about oneguy who was 60+, but have never confirmed it). Too Old For This S#%t is 13 years my junior LOL. There are heated debates on the Zero-G forum, but, hey, lots of us are grumpy old men! I was shocked at the intelligence level of many of the players (some discuss astrophysics in highly technical terms like others talk about their favorite sports). Most players are in Europe and speak perfect English. (Says something about their educational system!) One of the best players I ever saw was a teenage girl. I've also played against the president of the company many times (I outrank him, NEENER NEENER!) The employees love their game, and there's a heck of a lot of diversity in the player base.

Now there has been heated debates about the original "classic" version vs the current "Firepower" version. I and other play both (I provide the Classic server). There were a lot of great things that got tossed out when they redid the game (hitscan, the artistic look of the gun, the bullets went from bolts of light to white flecks), but there's a lot of good in the new version, too. It has 6 guns and 5 different nades (none of which are fatal). Futuremark also added bots recently. Still in their beta stage and they love to EMP Nade spam you, but they are loads of fun to play against.

I hinted that we need new players in my title. Most everyone who buys the game is amazed by it and their ONLY complaint is "why aren't there more players?" Well, this game is not a multimillion dollar development like certain Fanboy war games. There's no big TV ads for it, no million dollar ad campaingn and it barely gets any press. And with school starting up (including college, which many players attend) and work schedules there's been a heck of a drop in the number of players in the last couple of weeks. And just when our player base finally picked up in the last couple months of summer! :(

Anyway, the game is the busiest during the morning and early evening West Coast time. I play into the wee hours of the morning. I hope you'll join us!

New guys, keep in mind that the railgun is fine on the "noob" servers, but when you join the mature servers I suggest you pick another weapon, as hiding at a distance and camping is frowned upon. Plus, your teammates need help taking the control points! :)
