Biography

As CELTIC FROST had once arose from HELLHAMMER’s ashes, so arose TRIPTYKON from CELTIC FROST’s ashes. Created to further evolve the darkness invoked by its black/-extreme metal pioneers, TRIPTYKON are the brainchild of Tom Gabriel Fischer (a.k.a. Tom Gabriel Warrior), the groups’ singer, guitarist, and main songwriter.

No filler here, and each of the three studio tracks would have enhanced the already good first full length CD. Two slow, crunching, doses of heaviness and an ambient slice of weirdness- imagine a demonic artillery barrage from a Breugel painting. The two live tracks show what we are in for if they ever get over to the UK.

If you are familiar with Celtic Frost, then you will know what to expect from Tom Gabriel Warrior, frontman of Triptykon.
This EP is a nice companion to the debut album Eparistera Daimones. Featuring 2 typical dark metal Celtriptykon tracks, 1 ambient track reminding of some of the explorations from "To mega therion", and 2 Live tracks from Celtic Frost played at a festival by Triptykon.
Just like Eparistera Daimones, Monolith or To Mega Therion, Shatter features dark and heavy music.
Of course if you hesitate between the two Triptykon releases, go for the album, you'll get more for your money.

Shatter is a song for the ages 29 Nov 2010

Two new songs, the first being very, very good. Reminiscent of Celtic Frost's Monotheist, as well as 2 live tracks, any fan of this band should get the Shatter EP.

The live quality isn't bad, and it's the first that I've heard of live recordings of CF songs. I have a hard time with the production of the older albums, and was hoping to get into them with the newest incarnation of brutal ass musicians.

See. Them. Live.
COME BACK TO THE USA SOON! I hope back to Portland, the turnout wasn't much but my 5-hour drive was worth it Tom!

As you descend... I SHALL RISE!

Amazing 24 April 2011
By Take No Prisoners - Published on Amazon.com

The song "Shatter" is a monolith of a song. The simple riff and tribal drumming are complimented by Tom G. Warrior's excellent usage of whispering and speaking parts. The track climaxes at the chorus when guitars weave around in a subtle melodic manner, in unison with the magnificent female vocals. I would hope that the next Triptykon album would explore this side of the band, and expand on this for an entire album. The second song "I Am The Twilight", is much more in line with what you would hear on the debut "Eparistera Daimones". It's strength lies in the fact that it balances the song "Shatter" well, but were this a full length, I suspect it would get lost in an overall product, yet in the context of this EP it fits very well. The third song, "Crucifixus" is an ambient throw-away track, not because it is ambient, but because it just simply does not work. And thus concludes the new material from Triptykon.

I do however really want to address the two live versions of the Celtic Frost classics "Circle of Tyrants" and "Dethroned Emperor". I love the originals, so I was quite surprised that I actually enjoyed these live renditions of those songs even better. This is coming from someone that typically believes that the subtleties and nuances of music is typically lost in the live performance, thus making it inferior in most cases. However these live tracks were absolutely amazing, and it increased my enjoyment of the EP tremendously.

A small gem of great metal here. Tom G. Warrior is the lord of heavy and dark in my book...his genuine dark themes are only rivaled by the might Sabbath.
