I bought this Blu-ray player to go with a Sharp HD TV, partly drawn by the proprietary link between the units and the quality of the TV. The Blu-ray playback is superb and when working, the DVD upscaling is similarly impressive. However, the player sporadically rejects DVDs, occasionally taking about three tries to read and accept the disc. This is getting a bit tedious. It never rejects Blu-ray discs, just DVDs. Is it a fault? Is it a warranty thing? Can I be bothered to actually go through the process of getting it fixed, if it needs fixing? Well, to be honest I can't be bothered and I am looking at other upscaling options from other manufacturers. So it would get a full five stars for the quality of playback, but it loses these due to the problems it has reading DVDs. I wouldn't bother about the "Aquos link" thing either, it doesn't do a lot. The TV is brill though so perhaps I just got a dud player. It was delivered with it's Sharp packing and a label stuck on, so it could have suffered from rough handling. Whatever the problem, I am not happy with the player so 2 stars.
