2.0 out of 5 stars Not silent 12 Oct 2012

I think the name of this item is a bit misleading as it is not silent, in fact this is the loudest fan in my system! It arrived well packaged with both screws and anti vibration rubber fittings. I used the screws as I found the rubber bolty things a bit of a faff to fit.
I wasn't massively impressed with the length of the PWM cable, although it does come with an extension cable and a connector for molex. I don't like extension cable as it looks and feels very flimsy; with a single wire going from the molex to the PWM connector. I think this will snag and break very easily.
The fan shifts an average to good amount of air, although I wasn't blown away (pun intended)

5.0 out of 5 stars Good for its job. 25 July 2012
Most people are saying that it is not silent and that you an get quieter fans that shift the same amount of air.

Whilst this is true you must remember the difference, most fans has more blades but thinner.

This fan has a few large blades, this makes a HUGE differenced, this fan will shift more 'static' air.

What this means is that this fan shifts the air in more scenarios, like if you have water cooling, this fan will pull or push the fan through the radiator better. If you use dust filters or have a small or cramped case then this fan will still shift the air.

Also as the temperature increases there will be pressure changes inside the case, this fan will perform better then a fan with thin blades.

In short, this is a good fan that will operate well where other quieter fans do not, but it is loud, if noise isn't an issue then this is the fan for you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as silent as all that 22 Jan 2011

I have bought Sharkoon fans before and have been generally pleased with them, however this one is noisier than my original system fan. I do admit that this turns at 2000rpm while my original was around 1200rpm, and this is the only reason that I can identify why this should be so much different from other Sharkoons that I purchased. Having said all that the fan does a good job of keeping my PC box cool and all components are showing a marked reduction in temperature as a result of fitting it. It remains to be seen whether I can put up with the additional noise.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but too loud for me
These are good fans, but they are very loud.

They shift 76 CFM at 36.1 dB(A), I returned them for the Akasa Viper which shift 84 CFM at 28.9 dB(A). Read more
