4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic resource on SP2010 ECM, 16 Nov 2011
By Andrew Connell "AC" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: SharePoint Server 2010 Enterprise Content Management (Paperback)
If you're doing any work around SharePoint 2010 Enterprise Content Management (ECM) including Web Content Management, Document Management, workflow, Records Management, InfoPath, image processing... any of those things you should check out this book. The authors have done a great job giving the reader an overview and going in-depth into these various areas of ECM. Grated each topic could likely warrant it's own book, but to have all of this in one work is very good. I especially liked the section on support concepts that guide the reader through file formats, the SharePoint 2010 ECM ecosystem and especially guidance on a implementing a successful project.

4.0 out of 5 stars Your Fastest Track to understanding SharePoint 2010 ECM, 30 Sep 2011
By K. Ells - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: SharePoint Server 2010 Enterprise Content Management (Paperback)
I've been in the Enterprise Content Management industry for 15 years and the SharePoint space for about 5. This book is the go-to reference for SharePoint 2010 ECM. Everything is covered including document management, workflow, collaboration, records management, document imaging and scalability. I was a bit turned off when I first browsed the pages since there we so many code examples, but don't let this fool you. They're there if you need them and in many cases it was pretty interesting to see the inner workings of the platform.

For the most part it just plain good education. Covers the history of SharePoint, ECM and the need for such a tool as SharePoint. If you are just getting started don't be afraid, most of the material is really straight forward. If you've been in the business for years like me you'll still fine the guide loaded with useful material much of which probably can't be found in other books. Even the chapter on scalablity, I am not a server admin, was clear and very easy to follow.

I had to present to a local document management chapter about the in's and out's of SharePoint 2010. After completing this book the presentation was a walk in the park and honestly I couldn't have done it without reading this first. I guess I could have but it probably wouldn't of taken a lot more time to find all the various areas covered by this very complete work.

Nice Job Guys.
