This is a great book if you have perhaps done some administration or development and are now getting more involved in architecture and planning. Perhaps you need to deploy a development environment and have a wider view of some of the important architectural aspects particularly how they may have changed from 2007. Having read this book I was inspired to start looking more into how and why I might implement my own Service Applications, not what I was expecting from a book with such a humble and perhaps little misleading title.
As part of the 'for Dummies' series it contains the usual abundance of useful tips, recommendations and warnings.
Why only 4 stars?
As an All-In-One, it would need many more included books, it is more SharePoint 2010 Architecture and Planning for Dummies I feel but still a good volume and readable. Also, there is perhaps a little too much reliance on walk throughs where a few readable paragraphs would have sufficed.
