HASH(0x92ec524c) out of 5 stars One of my Top 10 Christian books 4 May 2014
By Jeremy Myers - Writing at RedeemingGod - Published on
This is a book all Christians should read. The authors rely heavily on "Transforming Mission" by Bosch, which is another book that all Christians should read. These two books revolutionized the way I looked at Christianity, church, the mission of the church, and how to carry out the Great Commission of Jesus Christ.
HASH(0x92ec73e4) out of 5 stars Absolute must read for church leaders who don't want to lead a dying church 21 Sept. 2013

Although written almost a decade ago, this book is a prophetic voice for the church. It doesn't offer quick fixes, but encourages the church to pioneer new approaches altogether so that we can reach the changing world around us.

HASH(0x92ec74b0) out of 5 stars Rethinking Church...inspiring though not practical 11 Nov. 2010
By J. H. Wells - Published on
This book was recommended to me by a friend who is part of a "New Monasticism" community. I am a young pastor of a small traditional church.

The authors join the rally cry of breaking the church free from the shackles of Constantine and the Christendom model which focuses on hierarchical leadership models and attractional models of ministry. Instead, they suggest egalitarian/ apostolic leadership, incarnational ministry.

These important thinkers are sharp, they know their Bibles, Church History, as well as sociology etc.

They are thinking deeply and making challenging recommendations.

The main benefit I gained from this book has come in the way of inspiration towards creative ministry for the sake of the Gospel. On the negative side, few of their recommendations were practical or feasible for my ministry context.
