Loved loved loved their acoustic version of New Order's Bizarre Love Triangle (available on Marvin the Album) and after hearing the upbeat What's Come Over Me I was expecting this to be 'plugged' as opposed to 'unplugged' but aside from that and the track Jungle this is another mainly acoustic excursion. Australian indie from 1996, if you like your music beautifully sung with meaningful lyrics this is worth seeking out, most of the tracks three minute slices of perfection (the exception proving the rule is the closing song, the hauntingly well-crafted Calmly). A step forward from Marvin, we can but hope that there'll be a 'ten years on' reunion for these Aussie popsters.

Nice little album with the distinctive voice of Angie Hart... A bit more political than Marvin which makes Angies voice that little more saccharin... I just dont think they can pull off strong political views so overtly with their style and angies voice... Great tunes nevertheless as catchy as marvin but a little disappointed that it lacks a little originality!

beauty is eternal 19 Dec 2000
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
the music on this album allows your perception to extremely grow with every listen. in the beginning it is only unusual - the types of songs that make you turn around and say 'hey!??!' in astonishment when they are played on the radio (and be it only for the fact THAT they're played there - remember when 'love fool' from the cardigans came out?). But at the same instant there is the gut feeling that, somewhere under the darkness, there is something truly beautiful going on. And this comes out in the subseqent hearings. These songs seem very simple - if a bit unusal - on first listening, unusual & very fresh chord changes, often combed against the grain. But the potential for discovering new things is big... the re are numerous instances where pure, stunning beauty shines through... the only thing that frustrates me that I can't describe it properly.
