4.0 out of 5 stars comprehensive 13 Feb 2002
Format:Paperback
Covers many grappling techniques (not floor work) in a short sharp explanatory way. Also discusses some important 'vital' (pressure) points, striking and common conditioning excercises. Fantastic value, and a good reference book for any martial artist. Unlike some martial arts books, doesn't make wild exagerations, but gives facts. However not an off the shelf self defence book, but is any book?

5.0 out of 5 stars The best book on locks I have ever seen. 16 April 2001
By Darren
Format:Paperback
I have been a jiu-jutsu practitioner for nearly 20 years and I know my locks. But this book showed me so much more. This is in all honesty one of the best books on locks I have ever seen. If you are interrested in restraint or control buy this book. I have completely revised my schools locking courses just because of this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Clear and easy to follow! 27 Jan 2003
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
YJM brings us another volume showing us just how skilled he really is.
I have always been doubtful that something like Chin Na could be learnt from a book, but this book is very clearly layed out. Taking the reader through simple practical techniques, and building upon them to give us a clear underdstanding of the principles of seizing & locking.
This is a must for any Kung fu students library, as it will help to explain many of the techniques found in traditional forms.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good! 8 Sep 2011
Format:Paperback
A really good book, some of the pictures are a little difficult to see because they are in B&W but its a little gem. When it comes to wrist locks, shoulder locks, arm locks, etc there really is nothing better in my opinion than Chin Na i practice jujitsu and judo but in a real situation i would most likely use one of the very simple and easy techniques i have learnt in chin na. Just as a side thought if you are trying to learn chin na techniques i would also buy one of "Jwing ming yang's" DVD's to go with the book its easier to understand the theory if you can see it in action I think. Hope this helps
