According to the liner notes Elkie Brooks helped write most of the songs on this album herself, so she really only has herself to blame for the fact that most of them are instantly forgettable.
Unfortunately her voice sounds incredibly strained on a few of the tracks, and is quite painful to listen to as she strains to reach the notes on the opening track 'Morello'.
However, the set is redeemed by the beautiful 'The Last Goodnight', which was written in the 70's, and showcases Elkie's powerful voice to perfection, and the haunting track 'Modern Slaves' which brings the cd to an end.
It gets a star for each of these two songs, which are well worth a listen, but the rest of the tracks on this 2002 album are best forgotten.
