5.0 out of 5 stars Simply captivating and breath taking 5 Aug 2001
By Gwendolyn Lau Ee Lin - Published on
I have just finished reading this wonderful novel and its ending just brought tears to my eyes. The version that I read has been translated into English. The author, in her novel has managed to described her story with a true sense of reality in it. It brought back some memories of my personal life. It make me question myself on who I really am and what I want to achieve in my life.It has also brought to my attention on the life that exist in Shangai. I would not mind going there to experience the great things the author described about Shangai. It it truly worth reading and once you have started, you would not want to put the novel down until it is finished.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful 4 Oct 2002
By P. Gungor - Published on
I have read this book in Turkish translation. Eventhough Coco lives in another world from mine, her life resembles to mine. I think this is called globalization. Her love, career and social life is so true and painfull. She is the mirror of us who are in mid twenties.

5.0 out of 5 stars Took my breath away... 21 Nov 2001

There are two ways you can read this book... as a story that captures the essence of this new generation no matter where it is or as a book that hides more than it reveals. Honest and heart warming potrayal of the author's life, it is indeed amazing and mesmerising reading the book and you can not put the book down once you have started reading the book... full marks to the author...
