DVD Description

Shameless is the blisteringly funny, offbeat drama which follows the rollercoaster lives and loves of a rather dysfunctional family (or two) from Manchester. The Shameless – Series 1 DVD invites you to meet the Gallaghers: mum went AWOL years ago and dad Frank stayed at home with the six children, only to hit the bottle… and sometimes the kids too. The real head of the family is big sister Fiona (20), who looks after Carl (11), Debbie (9) and baby Liam (3). She is occasionally helped--but more often hindered--by the reluctant virgin Lip (16) and the actively gay, but very private, Ian (15). Featuring all seven episodes from the first series, the Shameless – Series 1 DVD reveals the hectic world of sexual adventures, triumphs, love, scams and crime on the Chatsworth Housing Estate.

Synopsis

The first series of offbeat TV drama Shameless promises plenty of laughs from Manchester's most dysfunctional family (the Gallaghers) and their neighbours (the Maguires) as they go about their very anarchic lives. Join Frank and his six kids, for whom there is never a dull moment on the Chatsworth housing estate, where wheel-less cars are the norm and the moving ones are stolen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't be more aptly titled!, 14 Feb 2006
Having found Shameless only in the last year, I was very excited to be able to catch up on past misdemeanors. You have to applaud the witty lines, complex story lines and colourful language, whilst curling your toes at the same colourful language, and distinct lack of morals displayed by the unfortunate characters therein. Wonderful. Hilarious. Real laugh-out-loud stuff. A definate must see.

4.0 out of 5 stars grand stuff hey, 12 Aug 2007

(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
series one of the great series doesnt stutter or edge its way into character and form,it just bombs the place with the gallagher family led by the father, frank who is a waste of space ultimately as he rarely sees the world without drunken eyes, and his 6 kids who are raised by the eldest fiona.
Along with neighbours veronica and kevin and other minor characters the show takes form to draw shocks, laughs and sentiment out of the viewer and to its credit manages on all fronts, frank waking in paris with a look of utter confusion is one of the great scenes,of which there are many.
Shameless works because although there is the argument for over the top at times, the show doesnt take itself seriously or swagger with an air of arrogance,at times its simple and never out complexes itself, laughs come and go,drama does the same and so do the shocks which have given the show a real individuality, cracking series and well worth some of your cash.
