You can choose a track of appropriate length for the time you wish to spend on your journey. Each journeying track begins with a special series of drumbeats and ends with a "call back". "The bats enjoyed the drumming too and we felt they had experienced drumming before in this ancient cave".

4.0 out of 5 stars A good deep sound to journey to., 4 Oct 2010
This review is from: Shamanic Drumming: Journeying in Traditional Shaman Drum Style (Audio CD)
I bought this because, being a beginner - I don't have my own drum so needed a CD to help me journey. The sound is great, and being recorded in Badger Hole Cave in the Mendips, it really creates a deep resonating, powerful drum-beat suitable for lower world journeying. The CD includes the required 'call-back', and includes 5,10 and 15 minute sessions, plus a 30 minute 'gentle drumming for relaxation'. Personally, I would have liked a 20 and 30 minute journey to be included, and would have given it an extra star rating. I'm not sure how 'useful' a 5 minute journey is? - but, being a novice journeyer, I may be unaware that perhaps there are specific journeys which require less time to complete.

5.0 out of 5 stars Useful Tool & Basic Guide for Shamanic Journeying, 11 Dec 2008
By
This review is from: Shamanic Drumming: Journeying in Traditional Shaman Drum Style (Audio CD)
The product insert contains a useful quick review guide to undertaking a "Lower World" shamanic journey. It is very useful for individuals or groups who do not have a person available to drum for them. Sunflower Health also offer a very useful "Health and Safety Tips for Shamanic Journeying" leaflet by email to purchasers of this CD.
Note of caution: some old portable CD players will not be able to play this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Shamanic Journey whenever you need it!, 26 Jan 2008
This review is from: Shamanic Drumming: Journeying in Traditional Shaman Drum Style (Audio CD)
The beauty of this CD is that you can have an expert, experienced shamanic practitioner drum you a journey whenever you want. For those learning to drum a joureny themselves it provides a useful model of how to do it.
Howard Malpas has been studying and practicing Shamanism since 1983. He comments "...during that time have realised that it is more a remembering, an ancient knowing, rather than a learning". An accomplished musician, he was born in China, then went on to a school in Ireland where he met his first Shamanic teacher, who encouraged his attunement to nature and he learned the art of sitting quietly in that beautiful, ancient Celtic land, communicating eye to eye with the various animals and birds that approached him. This gave him a deep understanding of all things natural around him.
I have met Howard and can certainly say that those early lessons come through in the way he lives his life and leads shamanic rituals.
