I thought this entrance in the gotrek and Felix series was as excellent if not more so than many before, as they have pretty much slain anything you can think of in the warhammer world it wouldn't have surprised me if the books began to slow down, but NO they dont.

in this novel there's a lot of exploration of more emotions and oaths from Felix, and a shocking revelation from gotrek , also a new tone is taken with an old character which shocked me as a reader but at the same time I couldn't put it down.

all in all I loved this book, it is trying a few new things with the series and i like that, the ending is rather different from all the other novels as it leaves on a direct cliff hanger which is unusual. but as always I will be waiting the new novel with anticipation

Would highly recommend this book to anyone that has been following the Gotrek and Felix series, prehaps not the best of the series but still a very good read.

If you have never read any of the Gotrek and Felix books, I would recommend going back to the first book and reading through as this chapter does introduce characters from their past which might be confusing if you are a Gotrek and Felix newbie.

All in all a very solid book continuing the saga.

A bit underwhelming to be honest, and I 'm a great fan of the series. I bought this with real money... Gotrek has gone from taciturn to silent and Felix is more like Hamlet, agonising about everything for pages and doing nothing other people don't prompt him to, i.e. refelction and self-doubt not just an aspect of his character but all he seems to do. Seems more an add-on book than anything. I was hoping not to notice the change in author but its taken a lot of the punch (and hack and stab) out of the book. Quite a few plot holes as well, insofar as a WH novel relies on logical plot. Not bad but you start to notice if you are not gripped by the characters or stories.
