4.0 out of 5 stars Antenna 27 May 2011

Nothing wrong with the antenna, however the packaging is sooooooooo bad! Ordered 2 and returned them without opening because the tubes they were packed in were coming apart and crushed. The antennas are fiberglass so I was worried that they could have been damaged. Re-ordered and wondered if I got the same two back. The tubes had been taped where they had been coming apart, which looked like the same place where the ones I sent back were torn. Decided to open and they looked ok. Don't know if Shakespeare packages these or Amazon but something needs to change to put some support in the tubes. The tubes are 6' so it's really flemsy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly as expected. Shipped quickly. Good price! 11 Oct 2009

This antenna model exactly replaces what I've been using on my 240 Sundancer which snapped off in a sea cave. The longest transmission I can recall in recent days was 8 miles and it was crystal clear. A good value for an antenna in my opinion and probably there would be little need to spend more for near-shore use.

The antenna was a good value. We went sailing today, the antenna worked great. The attachment of the plug was unexpected but easy. The packing protected the antenna well.

You have solder the connector to the end of the cable. You will need a electric soldering gun or a soldering iron. There a videos on You tube on procedures.
