This book had some good reviews... but as my son and I ploughed through this together we got increasingly fed up. You shouldn't just read for readings sake... and we both felt this was like wading through treacle. Overly descriptive and just plain boring. The young boy in this story sounds overly anxious about everything went on and on and on.... I now use this book as a book end.................

I'm thrilled to find this book back in print. I read it over and over as a child but never had a copy of my own. Years later I found a single copy in the library and read it to my own children. Along with THE WHEEL ON THE SCHOOL, this has been a family favorite for generations.

This was the first book i ever read and now i have a little girl i wanted to get it for her even though she is a little young.
The sellers description was accurate and it was delivered fast, safely. The seller even put a little book mark in it. Very good condition and the price, i thought was great.
I am very, very chuffed to bits with this one, but it is a very personal book to me. The story is lovely. about a little boy who wants a black rabbit, Such a wonderful story. I would definately recommend it.
Thank you

A Kid's Review - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I was browsing throw the library to find a book for myself when i found the book shadrach. At first i didn't realy care for it until i started skimming throw the pages. To a kid like me it looked easy to read, but when i started reading it i couldnt stop. It was like the harry potter books when you just cant stop reading. So after two hours i checked the page and i was on page 147 and i couldnt believe it. To someone it might not be very impessive but it was to me and my family, because i hate reading. By the time i was finished i had two weeks to finish my ritten book report. Since i read it so quickly i got a A on it. So the book shadrach is a very iteresting book to read for all ages.

A Wonderful Bedtime Story 6 April 2004
By cameron - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
(...)The prose is poetic, repetitive, hypnotic -- the perfect bedtime mix. At the same time, DeJong accurately conveys the inner thoughts and emotions of a small child who is completely taken with his first pet. I admit to sending the kids off to bed after reading them a chapter, then slinking back to read the next chapter on my own. PS The hymn Davie sings, "He's the Lily of the Valley," can be heard on the web. Type the title into your browser.

One of the most beautiful children's books ever written 24 Nov. 1997
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Library Binding
In a gentle telling of a gentle story, Meindert Dejong captures the life of Davie, a little boy with a man's mission -- to find his missing pet rabbit. The beauty is not only in the story, but the telling of it, slowly, deliberately, with a keen sense of how overwhelming the world is to a small child. The ink drawings bring little Davie and his impish little rabbit so close to you, they might well be snuggled next to you. This is one of my favorite books of all time, and I was delighted to find a hardcopy version in amazon.com. It will be a keepsake to hand down to my kids.
