Review

"Sterling collection of horror." --Famous Monsters

"The authors in the collection do Lovecraft s story proud. 'Only the End of the World Again' is a fantastic tale from Neil Gaiman..." --Geek Girl Project

"One hellishly good collection...If an anthology is a jigsaw of parts and styles then Jones has found the best possible picture lurking in the torn shapes of Shadows Over Innsmouth." --Geek Native

Excellent book, and it was shipped very quickly.

The stories do vary in quality but on the whole capture the feel and oppressive atmosphere of Lovecraft. I put off purchasing any "fan" literature for a long time but I'm glad I purchased this. It's like re-discovering Lovecraft all over again. Well worth your money!

Best of its genre 20 Oct 2014

My passions when it comes to reading.
1: Classic literature which is expertly crafted, spellbinding, wrought of prose in which I can get lost whatever the events depicted therein.
2: Mythos fiction with weird Lovecraftian ideas and influences, even that which is hammered out and roughly edited.

This book is definitely in category two. BUT, the writing and editing is such that it doesn't annoy or interfere with my ability to enjoy these stories. The quality of the writing is more than good enough to get out of the way, and some of the ideas and imagery are wonderful. It's not Hawthorne, Faulkner, Hemingway or... <your favorite classic author> But it definitely doesn't suck, and it's all about, in and around the ideas of Lovecraft's Innsmouth. If you're really a fan of Mythos fiction, and know what I mean by that without thinking about it, then get this thing and read it!

A wonderful compilation of Innsmouth stories. Anyone interested in Lovecraftian stories should own this book. I confess that I have not only the hardback version, but also the softback and the Kindle version. Some things are just that good.

Ahh, the Innsmouth Look 20 Nov 2013

One of the classic collections of Lovecraftian stories. British authors doing their own take on shadow haunted Innsmouth. Not every story is perfect, but the collection has something for everyone. Especially if you have gill slits, bulging watery eyes and a fondness for swimming races...
Slimy good indeed. 8 Jan 2014

A very good compilation of stories. My favorite was Neil Gaiman's Only The End Of The World Again. It was just awesome.
