Product Description

A limousine is discovered at the bottom of a river. Inside are the bodies of two world famous Hollywood stars, a young film director and a famous rock musician. Meanwhile not far away a movie about Napoleon is massively over-budget and the producer has gone missing...

Part mystery, part black-comedy, Shadows On A Wall is also a love story of many parts: there is the screenwriter who writes a role for his girl friend and sees it taken from her; the producer who is desperate to please his French wife, a former sex-star; and the growing friendship between an English schoolgirl actress and a young film editor.

Mainly, though, Shadows On A Wall is the story of people in love with movies - and what really happens when they go on location.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOULD MAKE A GREAT MOVIE 17 Oct 2012
Shadows on the Wall... I'm surprised they haven't made a movie of it. The book has ALL the ingredients of a blockbuster, ambitious young author sees a big time movie producer put his money on his play, then hire great megalomanic actors, along with a great megalomanic director and an equally megalomanic musician - young author and girl friend tag along and the shooting turns into a nightmare. Murder ensues. How will it all come untangled? Terrific comedy and suspense - a flamboyant satire of the world of motion pictures. Miguel Errazu

4.0 out of 5 stars The best novel about making movies 13 Oct 2012
The best novel about making movies. Shadows On A Wall tells a great story that's funny, thrilling, moving and even though it may well shatter any illusions you still had about film-making, it won't kill your love of movies. Filled with engaging characters from the playwright who has been sucked into the Hollywood big time to the desperate producer trying to hang on to his unfaithful wife to the wealthy undertaker who fancies dabbling in the silver screen, Shadows On A Wall itself would make a great movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shadows on a Wall 12 Oct 2012
Ray Connolly tells this story, through characters, sometimes painted in minute detail, in a way which holds our attention. The huge, sprawling, broad canvas of the narrative,is laid out like the big screen epic being depicted in the book. A great read, full of plot and counter plot, flickering images, perhaps in black and white, whilst the whole story is in vibrant colour.

The 500 pages are easily read in short chapters, and scene settings, which remind us of the author's early work as a sreen-writer. This is a story not to be missed.Shadows On A Wall
