Book Description

Jan 2005 Mediator (Pb) (Book 1)
'You're dead. You don't belong here.' Having travelled just about a gazillion miles from New York to California, the last thing Susannah expected was to see a ghost sitting in her nice new bedroom. Well maybe she did, except that she kinda hoped that things would be different here, you know, a new start and everything...Life hasn't been all that easy for Susannah. That's because Susannah talks to the dead [Angstrom] well they talk to her actually. Susannah's a mediator [Angstrom] a contact person for just about anybody who croaks, leaving things.. well, untidy. At least Jesse, the smoldering latino ghost who hangs out in her room isn't dangerous. Unlike Heather, who has taken up residence at Susannah's new high school, and is very very angry..

The Mediator books are great stories but before you buy - BEWARE. The title list implies there are 12 "Mediator" book titles by Meg Cabot whereas there are only 6, but each book is published under 2 different titles (why?). For information: "Mediator 1 - Love You To Death" ISBN 0 330437372 is identical to "Shadowland (Mediator)" ISBN 0060725117; "Mediator 2 - High Stakes" ISBN 0330437380 is identical to "Ninth Key (Mediator)" ISBN 0060725125; "Mediator 3 - Mean Spirits" ISBN 0330437399 is identical to "Reunion (Mediator)" ISBN 0060725133; "Mediator 4 - Young Blood" ISBN 0330437402 is identical to "Darkest Hour (Mediator)" ISBN 0060725141; "Mediator 5 - Grave Doubts" ISBN 0330418335 is identical to "Haunted (Mediator)" ISBN 0060751649; and "Mediator 6 - Heaven Sent" ISBN 0330434829 is identical to "Twilight (Mediator)" ISBN 0060724692.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful first book in the Mediator series. 20 Jan 2005
Ever since she saw her first ghost at the age of two, Susannah Simon has been a mediator - in other words, a contact person between the living and the dead. It's her responsibility to help troubled spirits move on to the next world. And it's a responsibility she has always resented. At sixteen, Susannah just wants to be a normal teenage girl, worried about clothes and boys, not dead people. And now that her mom's remarried, she's had to leave New York City, the only home she's ever known, to move all the way to northern California. Her new stepdad's not too bad, but her three stepbrothers are a pain, and on the first day of school, she's confronted by the angry ghost of Heather, a girl who committed suicide over Christmas break. Susannah figures it won't be too hard to get Heather to move on - until it becomes clear that she's the most violent spirit Susannah has ever encountered. Heather won't rest until she gets revenge on her ex-boyfriend for breaking up with her.
This book starts off a great series by Meg Cabot that is one of my favorite series ever. The next five books are just as great. This series combines mystery, suspense, humor, and romance, and so will appeal to teens with various tastes in reading. I also highly recommend that all of Meg Cabot's fans give it a try - even though this series is very different than her other books, in my opinion, it's her best ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't get enough! 17 April 2004
By Sophie
Jenny Carroll who is actually the one and only Meg Cabot, has written a true masterpiece. Its got a girl who can kick ass, a cute ghost who ass you wanna grab, and people who you'll love to hate. Its an all round happy-melt-you-inside book. The story is of a girl (Susannah) who used to be a freak, moves house and becomes one of the most popular girls in school. This story really reminded me of Buffy, in a twisted sense. Susannah is a mediator, puts dead to rest,(like Buffy!) but she does it in STYLE (also like Buffy!). But wait! Where is the sexy boy I have told you about? Jesse (who reminds me of Angel) is cool, witty, freakishly sexy, and dead so only Susannah can see him. So he's all hers! This is a must read for all girls who like books with cute guys. So all girls basically. READ! NOW!

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved this book 11 May 2003
Jenny carrol has once again, written an amazing teenage book, that is not only fun to read but shows a keen understanding of a teenage girls brain. The story centres around Suze, a 16 year old girl that has just had to relocate to California from New York. On top of this she has also recieved a brand new step dad, and 3 new teenage stepbrothers. But Suze is no ordinary girl, she has the power to talk to the dead, and it is her job to help them on to the next plane of life. How will Suze cope.
I Loved this book, i thought it was funny, witty and imaginative. Jenny Carrol has one again strated an incredible series for teenage girls. i can not wait for the next book to come out.
