I have followed the recent releases for DD with anticipation from the devil inside and out to the Devils Hand and thought the saga could only continue to deliver a fantastic character development which is missing from other Marvel titles, but both the editions of Shadow land (why two titles the same?) are a complete failure.
Marvel sought via the epic Civil War to create a base story with overspills to engage the reader with new view points, but Shadow Land is a total breakdown in story telling with overlaps, gaps and unanswered structure to the tale across two separate titles, which without having both copies on hand becomes a joke. These make me want to discard any future DD graphic novels, and definitely avoid the spin off Shadow Land titles.
How can Marvel get it so wrong? Without creating a spoiler for an already spoilt story the sudden change in DD is almost something out of a Harry Potter story. Forget Voldermort this is the DD event that should never be named.
Shadow Land - more a case of a shadow of its former self.
