Book Description

Full length NEW ADULT novel

She's in for the fight of her life...with the man who only wants to be her lover.

Fighter Mia Anderson has faced the dark side of life and survived. But just getting by is no longer enough. To fund her new life with her baby sister, she's determined to beat the reigning king of the male fighters in New York's underground MMA circuit, Tray "Fox" Knox.

Tray refuses to fight a woman, until he learns Mia's tougher than anyone he has ever known. He soon realizes he wants more from her than blows and blood, and he's willing to hit below the belt to get it. He'll fight her, but if he wins, she spends the night in his bed. All night long, his rules. No tapping out.

Mia agrees, certain that he'll lose. What she doesn't realize is that Tray loves to fight dirty...and that this match may end up being the most important one of their lives.

About the Author

USA TODAY bestselling author Cari Quinn wrote her first story--a bible parable--in 2nd grade, much to the delight of the nuns at her Catholic school. Once she saw the warm reception that first tale garnered, she was hooked. She attempted her first romance in junior high, long before she'd ever read one. Writing what she knew always took a backseat to what she wanted to know, and that still holds true today. Though she also fires up her computer as a graphic designer, proofreader and editor, she can't resist the lure of disappearing into a world of her own creation. Now she gets to pen sexy romances for a living and routinely counts her lucky stars.

I loved this book! I loved this author! I will definitely be reading more by her.

The story is based around the two main characters Mia and Tray two fighters who fall in love. Mia is the kind of strong female lead which I love to read about, she argues every step of the way but in the end always gets the guy. However what was most refreshing about this book is that after months of reading about the girl I finally get to read about the guy too. Tray whose point of view is featured in every other chapter is a lovable rogue with a womanizing stint who really doesn't want to fall in love. When he meet Mia though all that changes, the serious character developments and complications that come between our two love birds had me at the edge of my seat with anticipation turning me into the 'one more chapter monster'.

I also loved secondary characters like Mia's sister Carly and her love interest Giovanni and would also like to see a spin off with Kizzy and possibly English guy who's taking over the gym-just a suggestion which I would most definitely read.

The book was paced brilliantly allowing everything to happen in Mia's time which as the most damaged is perfectly acceptable. However also giving Tray time to gather himself so that he can appear to be the suave guy he wants Mia to think he is.

The story line was excellent with just the right about of dark and grizzly stuff so that it is not an overly depressing book just one with substance. I often find it difficult to get into a book which is simply boy meets girl they fall in love - complication- complication resolved- happily ever after. This book does not do that because let's be honest it's not that easy to get over a complication like this. I loved the fact that even in the last chapter Mia's problem is still there, it just isn't so much of a problem now because she has Tray.

I can't wait try to read more by this author.

4.0 out of 5 stars Honest Review 30 Mar. 2015
Format:Kindle Edition
Mia grew up with very little she's had it hard, a rough life to this point. Tray has had everything he could ever need but walked away from it to be happy.. Or what he thought would make him happy. Both are underground fighters. Mia is trying to make a name for herself, she wants to be the best and to do that she has to beat the best. There's one problem ... Tray doesn't fight women!

I really enjoyed this book, an angsty, broken character with a dark past is always good in my opinion. The dialogue was a little repetitive in places but overall didn't ruin the tone of the book. Tray though as much as I loved him I hated his attitude towards his upbringing and well to do family. Where Mia lost everything; he chose to leave everything behind. Their contrasting backgrounds make for an interesting read. Their blossoming relationship isn't portrayed as this beautiful epiphany like in most books, it's hard and gritty and in places hard to read. The first sex scene definitely wasn't pretty and I kind of liked that their story as a whole wasn't a pretty, light, airy read. This book pushes you past your comfort zone into a real emotional war zone. There were things about this story that drove me nuts but that just added to the enjoyment of the read for me. I really enjoyed getting to know these characters and I can't wait to read more from Cari Quinn.

I was lucky enough to win an ecopy of this in a competition. I hadn't read anything else by Cari Quinn & this book did start quite slowly for me but it built steadily & I liked the characters & how they evolved through the book. I will be checking out other books by Cari Quinn now.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good! 6 Mar. 2014

I loved that the heroine in this book could stand up for herself as much as the hero! It's unusual and different to have a strong lead female character and I loved the contrast between so many other books. Can't wait to read vinnies story now.

This was unexpectedly quite good. Not the usual run of the mill MMA story a bit of a twist involved - pleasantly surprised.
