5.0 out of 5 stars A dark type of hero - or a sunset warrior 17 Nov 2004
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
This is an excellent book; the author is uneven (to my taste) some of his series are excellent and others are scarcely worth reading - however this book - really a series in one cover is one of the better ones

The hero, is a martial arts expert, a former special forces warrior - has a strange background - for a start his martial arts style is an alien one, aliens who had gone to war with humans - and then vanished.

Now a bounty hunter, he tries to avoid complications - he does his job and doesn't get involved - or at least that is his aim, but somehow he often seems to get involved protecting the underdog. In a different genre, he would be the cowboy who rides into town, sorts out the 'baddies' and rides on into the sunset.

I enjoyed reading this book

Great soap-opera, sci-fi story.
The story is single-thread, around the main character who has a nice evolution along the story.
Throw in some pseudo-erotic lines, wrap it around a mystery, bundled in a single book to keep you up at night :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Shadow Warrior - Chris Bunch 12 Aug 2008
Format:Paperback
This is quality SF. Joshua Wolf is nails and knows the score in his quarter of the galaxy.

The trilogy in one volume sketch really worked for me, don't be put off by the 720 pages, it flys and you can't wait for for the next installment. Think Jack Reacher meets Bladerunner with a touch of the Jedi, get amongst it!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad but not great either 15 Mar 2008
Format:Paperback
It's an interesting story, but does have it's slow points that seem to be more filler than essential. The James Bond in space doesnt wash and Joshua Wolfe is a flat and pointlessly cold lead at times, showing little signs of any weakness. The more interesting characters have little time to shine, which is a shame. It does pick up towards the last few chapters and is a decent, if not great, read.

2.0 out of 5 stars Teenage dreams 27 Aug 2007
Format:Paperback
If you like books where the hero is stronger, smarter, and quicker than anyone else, and can seduce any woman, anywhere, anytime, then this book is for you. Myself, I grew tired of that genre in the end of my teenage years.

5.0 out of 5 stars good old fashioned style sci fi 8 Dec 2006
Format:Paperback
as the title says. its a sort of james bond in space, plenty of action, the hero has all sorts of special talents. give yourself some time because once you start you will want to sit down and read it all at once.has that old style where you follow one individual, none of the hopping from one character to another like many modern sci fi novels so you never lose the plot or have to re-read a section to maiantain your thread
