Book three in the Stormwalker series starts with a bang and once again we're thrown into the chaos and danger and excitement of Janet's life. It's brilliant.
As the blurb on amazon says, this book is about Mick saving Janet (and Nash) from a chasm that opens up on the road beneath then, not knowing that he has become ensnared by the clutches of some form of evil...and it's up to Janet, assisted by their friends, to save him and once again prevent a vortex that could annihilate life from opening up. Just another day in Janet's not-so-ordinary life, then...
Yes it's all action, adventure and danger, with some very hot sex scenes featuring Janet and Mick (with the magic mirror playing voyeur; a brilliant character, that is very relevant in this book), but on top, we see all the people who are so important to Janet. I particularly loved how romantic, sweet and protective Mick was in this tale before he turned into the biggest, meanest, fire-breathing dragon.
Janet and Mick are still going strong, and by the end of the book they get even stronger, and I was really happy at an event that takes place not long into the book, that comes to its conclusion whilst they are in the gravest of danger, and literally saves Mick's life. I can't say more, or I'd give the heart of the book away.
Maya and Nash are still fighting for dominance, which is a bit disappointing, as in book 2.5 which appears in the maxi-novella Double-Hexed, in the anthology Hexed (see separate review), Nash appeared to literally have some sense knocked into him and had rushed off after an angry Maya.
Sweet old Fremont is there, as are Jamison, the magic mirror in large quantities, Coyote, Cassandra and Pamela (now a settled-down couple), but strangely and disappointingly, no Ansel, the Nightwalker, who appeared quite a bit in the novella. Gabrielle goes from being a crazy stalker daughter-of-an-evil-Beneath-goddess to a very changed person, though the entire events in this tale are down to her twisted thinking and planning. Again, I can't say more without spoiling the tale, other than that she has good taste in men, and is the cause of a cat-fight.
Add to that the ending of this novel, and for me, this book is a 5* Keeper. I can't wait for the next, as things only get better for Janet and Mick, and hopefully for Nash and Maya who deserve a HEA themselves (Janet managed to play relationship counsellor in the midst of all of the mayhem!).
Enjoy!
