Product Description

Magic

It is bleeding into our world, bringing with it banshees, wraiths, fae from the twisting forests of Twilight. But Elllie's problem is a very different kind of phenomenon. . .

Shadow

It ought to be attached to her; instead it has a life of its own. And her dark mirror image is a wild thing, willfully seducing the very man Ellie hoped could help.

Science

Cam has devoted his career to exploring the boundaries between this world and the Hereafter. But nothing could prepare him for the mischief and mayhem of a soul split in two.

Surrender

Who will give in first: the man struggling to unite two halves of one fascinating female; the shadow fighting for freedom to experience the thrill of every emotion; or the woman who is about to discover her own deepest desires?

This cover has the 'gloss' of the kind of paranormal/darkly romantic/action tales that I read, which is what made me download it. I got a gem of a tale. It's an a bonus type tale, as it comes just after book 2 and just before book 3 comes out. It is very readable.

It is a novella, only 4 longish chapters long, but it packs a lot in, and in fact, a whole tale. It's a strange world, and I've never read any of this author's work, but it has made me want to check out her other novels.

This is the tale of Ellie, a girl who lives 24/7 with her 'shadow', the naughty, unruly, tarty, mischievous side of herself, that causes her embarrassment and trouble, and that exists alongside her as a separate entity. As an actual person, but one that contains the 'bad' side of her. Ellie is scared of what 'bad her' might be capable of, so she's come to a scientist to see if he can help her.

Except Ellie's shadow goes AWOL, and then causes trouble between Ellie and the hunk scientist, Cameron, when she tries to seduce him (slightly less than steamy, but more than sensual), but then there's a chance at a 'cure' for Ellie...I won't say more, other than it's a decent read, an interesting world and potential for a HEA.

4.0 out of 5 stars Short supernatural story 4 Oct 2011
By Bob TOP 50 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I am not sure where this fits in Erin Kellison's shadow series however it is an interesting "teaser" to the series but complete in itself. The idea is original with a young woman Ellie the main character in the story having a shadow but not an ordinary shadow this one has a life of its own and Ellie does not want it. Both Ellie and her shadow are well portrayed and stand out as individuals in their own right.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting para/supernatural novella 14 Nov 2011
By Cheryl M-M TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Good para/supernatural read with an interesting concept. It might only be a novella but it is a glimpse of some unusual ideas. The main character seeks help for a tiny problem that follows her around everywhere, her own shadow. The doctor she thinks can help her believes the shadow is a second person, but is she? Interesting read.

Shadow, after all, was the term assigned to the world contiguous to Earth, the Shadowlands. In that place, shadow was magic. Was this an instance of magic being harnessed (even unknowingly) by a human being? "e;
