Frances Fyfield is a writer new to me, and she is very good. Employed as a London Lawyer she casts her main character as a London Lawyer. There is no doubt about the authenticity of the plot and certainly she creates characters that are more than believable. Helen West is a prosecutor and we are shown the inside of the job, the court and her private life. She is in a relationship with a senior police officer though he does not feature greatly in this book. A character who does play a large part in Helen's life, apart from an unsavoury crook called Logo, is a clerk in the Crown Prosecution Office called Rose Darvey. Rose, Helen and Logo are the pillars around whom this book revolves and this is edge of the seat stuff.
