Product Description

Action film about an intelligence officer who discovers that no one is what they seem in the shadowy world of espionage. When rogue operatives within the CIA smuggle a lethal virus out of the US and use ex-intelligence officer Jack Foster (Seagal) as their unwitting courier, they have no idea the fury that they're about to unleash. Unaware of the plot in which he's involved, Jack takes his eight-year-old daughter on a trip to Bucharest five years after the death of his wife and son. When she's kidnapped by a mysterious foreign agent, Jack searches Bucharest for her while the Romanian police, the American Embassy, and Russian agents all pursue him, believing he has a microchip containing the formula for a virus that could kill millions if it falls into the wrong hands.

3.0 out of 5 stars Shadow Man 20 Mar 2007
Format:DVD
Having purchased the terrible Action Force, I bought this to try and restore my faith in Steve and his films. From the start it was an improvement as the dialogue was all Steven's no poor dubbing in this. The plot has been used before in the film Belly of the Beast and it follows a similar pattern, either you help him or you die. The female eye candy was very familiar and after blowing the cob webs from the mind I remembered Eva Pope from Coronation Street as the sassy barmaid Tanya Pooley in the Rovers.

The fight sequences are better but Steve is showing his age. The obligatory full length Leather coat is on show but the weight is obvious to see.

You are left hoping that he will find happiness with a woman by the end of the film but once again anyone who gets close ends up regretting it. Overall a better quality film but one for rental not for purchase, unless you are an avid Steve Fan and want to add to your collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars A GOOD SEAGAL FILM 25 Jan 2007
Format:DVD
I watched this last night in bed for the first time and I liked the film as it had plenty of action in it. I got this for Christmas and I think it was a good effort at an action film but the only thing I didn't like was the camera shots, they were all over the place and you could hardly see what was happening (like the BOURNE SUPREMACY they were the same). I admit there were a few things that were unbelievable like when he shoots a helicopter down with a pistol but thats what makes it fun to watch this type of action film.

The story got a bit confusing but nobody watches a STEVEN SEAGAL film for the brilliant story telling. they watch it for the action scenes, martial art fighting scenes and the explosions. Plus Steven Seagal is getting a bit fat for these scenes but its nice to see him act out these scenes instead of a stunt double.

I admit that he will never get back to his hey day when his films were cinema quality. This proves it with it being straight to dvd.

This sounds like a bad review but it isn't its just my views - all in all a good action flick to watch on a Saturday night with a few cans of alcahol and a pizza. Im not going to go into the story because you can read it on the back of the dvd case when you rent or buy it.

This film is rated a 15 certificate and the film contains strong language and violence.

Thank you for reading my review.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor stuff 26 Feb 2007
By S J Buck TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:DVD
Steven Seagal was never a great actor, even in his prime. He was a good action star though. I've always had some respect for him as he's a 7th Dan in Akido and a respected martial arts practioner. However this is a sadly unconvincing film that does him no credit at all.

Now rapidly approaching the age of 56, Seagal has put on a lot of weight and his acting and delivery is even more wooden than it was. Sure the fight scenes are good, close-up its obvious he knows his stuff and you wouldn't want to mess with him, but as an action star his time has passed. The plot such that there is really isn't worth describing, and the only redeeming element was Imelda Staunton's performance as the American Ambassador, which is a class above the rest of the cast.

My recommendation rent don't buy this.

2.0 out of 5 stars Passes the time but nothing more.
The most memorable thing about this film is that it is unmemorable. It isn't a great film, but then it isn't an awful one either, the acting isn't fabulous, but it isn't terrible,... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Seagal runs riot in Romania
Although Steven Seagal's movies haven't graced cinema screens in recent years, 'Shadow Man' is a very worthwhile effort from the quietly spoken bonebreaker. Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Bye bye Steve

4.0 out of 5 stars An enjoyable Ride
I agree that this movie may cover no new ground. But Mr. Seagal does not use a stand in and does his own work. His acting is believable, even if the ex-CIA billionaire is not. Read more
