Something from the night,

If you are looking for something original and dark in guitar music this is your thing. Reminds me a bit of the Velvet Underground, the Doors and Bowie but Bauhaus have created their own style. They do a lot on stage to good effect with relatively cheap gimmicks like heavy lighting from below, something I used to try out to scare people lighting my face from below with a torch when I was a boy scout. Nevertheless, the created atmosphere is quite good and the music grows on you. So beware, these tunes lodge into your skull. So if your into Lou Reed and like a bit dark guitar music with artistic lyrics this DVD is very recommendable. Warhol would have loved it.

Although I'd have to say, that both these titles I watched constantly throughout the 80s with complete awe, so to know that a Dvd release was coming I eagerly sold my VHS copies and awaited the newly printed DVD.
Unfortunately, my expectations were completely dashed. Nothing has been done to clean up the picture and although a new 5.1 surround sound accompanies it, it sounds terrible, and I opted for the standard stereo setting. Any chance to perfect this release has been wasted, and yet another video-to-Dvd transfer has been offered instead of a good package. Not even a decent booklet. I wish I'd kept my videos now.

Here's the real Bauhaus DVD you 've allways wanted..Peter at his best on stage,all the exciting stuff ,mix of brillant light and darkness,that Bauhaus incarnates Live.Precious like a purple smile on the snow...Eternal like the children that we were....
