Product Description

December 1879. Farrow and Flint are back in London. Relegated to the lower ranks of music hall acts, and stripped of their beloved dressing room, they’re determined not to get involved in any more investigations. That is, until Farrow meets a widowed showgirl who tells them of the mysterious death of her husband. A death the police show no interest in. Once again the comedians encounter the cantankerous Sgt Wyatt, as they embark upon a quest that leads them to criminality in the upper and lower reaches of Victorian society.

The second book is just as well paced, as the first, with good character development.
I really felt transported back to that time period, without it distracting from the plot.
I'd love to read more from James Bagworth!

Having thoroughly enjoyed 'out of the limelight' involving farrow and flint I looked forward to this one. I was not disappointed. Great storyline, has a mystery to solve, has humour and a dry wit,the author writes so well.I hope there are further stories involving these two characters.A must read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Shadow Of The Bridge 24 Dec 2013

I quite enjoyed this relatively cozy Victorian whodunit featuring Music Hall comedians Flint and Farrow. In their spare time Flint and Farrow act as Private Investigators and aren't adverse to some serious sleuthing. In this longer novella Flint and Farrow investigate the apparent murder of Jack Porter. Jack's widow Esme is convinced that Jack has met with foul play.

I enjoyed the way the two main characters were portrayed in this gentler whodunnit. They interacted well even though they were opposite in character, they complimented each other and I enjoyed their repartee.

However some of the dialogue didn't ring true to the times, Esme's dialogue fluctuated between ?Cockney dialect and often modern dialect at times.

But I will say that I did enjoy this nicely atmospheric mystery and I thought the two main characters well presented.

Good mystery. Well done characters and plot line. History fells acurate and well developed. More attention to proof reading, and identifying people beyond "he" and "she". Loved the tight rope walk. I wished they had better success. I'll read another of this series.
