What an honour to have been given the opportunity to read an ARC Andy Holloman's debut novel, "Shades of Gray" - and what a great read it was. I was so absorbed in what was going to happen I couldn't put it down, so finished it in 2 days!!
The story takes us on the journey of John Manning, devoted Father, coping with the realities of life and finding himself in the unpredictable world of drugs. Drawing on his own background, Andy delivers a thoughtful and at times heartbreaking thriller.
Fantastic read and a must for everyone's reading list

Mix together the ingredients of a well thought out plot, vivid characters, intrigue and suspense at every turn and the result is Shades of Gray, a terrific debut novel from the author Andy Holloman.
It is the story of John Manning, a single dad and successful, reputable business man, whose world dramatically changes after the events of September 11th 2001. His travel agency has been hit hard and his beloved daughter, Lucy, has a rare kidney disease that requires a transplant that will cost him thousands of dollars that he doesn't have. In desperation, he hooks up with a former client, Wanda, and this dramatically changes his life by introducing him to the drugs world, a world he knows nothing about.
Throughout the book the reader experiences varying emotions as the story unfolds with all of its suspense, twists and turns and, with great writing, we get to know each of the characters so well. It takes you on a roller coaster ride as you are willing John Manning to be successful in his quest.
Shades of Gray is a real page turner that will keep you captivated until the dramatic and unexpected conclusion, and Andy Holloman is an inspiration to all would be authors that it is never too late...

I really enjoyed this story. the characters were realistic as well as the plot and even after reading I still had some of the scenes playing in my head. I could picture the characters easily and relate to them. this is not the kind of story that I normally go for but I am so glad I did read it, especially with the twist at the end. If you fancy a good read then I recommend this book.
