3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Story, but needs a lot of work 14 May 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Plot: Melissa is saved from drowning by a man who by all means is the epitome of handsomeness. Despite this new found love interest, and perhaps because of it, Melissa finds herself jumping feet-first into a world she didn't think existed with things from vampires to plant people.

Overall, the ideas behind the story aren't too bad. The actual plot line is decent enough, but the execution of it all is dicey at best. The bit that bothers me the most is the inexplicable attraction between Melissa and Michael. All her character seems to do is cry and throw herself at him. Perhaps I'm too attached to my idealistic strong female lead, but even if I drop my standards a bit Melissa seems to struggle to meet them. The book often draws parallels between itself and Twilight, which were unnecessary and almost cringe-worthy.

Even disregarding the stumbling blocks I had with the story, the book as a whole needs polishing. There were lots of grammatical mistakes and missing words in sentences. There was also one point where Michael refers to Melissa as Heather...

In summation, it needs a lot of work and some general rethinking of characters and behavior. The story isn't terrible, but it's not overly gripping either. I might give the next one a chance if I happen to come upon it (hoping it was better edited) but I won't be actively seeking it out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful escapism from the 'vanilla' world. 25 Mar. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I started reading this last night in an attempt to wind down from the essays I had been trying to write all day and it was perfect. The story winds its way without effort and is paced well for the kindle, urging you to turn the page. It is the perfect antidote to the nullifying effect of reading academic text all day and a pleasing escape into a different world.

Well done to the author, I will be looking for more of your work when I finish.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great storyline 30 April 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed this book and found it very hard to put down. The plot was interesting, though I found it very inappropriate to downplay Twilight...especially the amount of times it actually does this. There were a load of grammar mistakes but it was still easy to read, not a huge problem. Is it just me, or did Melissa's manager's name change throughout the book... I remember him starting off as Bob, then changing to Bill and back to Bob towards the end?

2.0 out of 5 stars Hmmmm 29 April 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book was recommended to me by Amazon and to be honest I wish they hadn't bothered. I read alot usually a book a day but I couldn't get into this book at all and found myself just skimming pages. The only reason I kept reading was because I was hoping it would get better ! Some people will read it and love it unfortunately I'm not one of them.
