This is the best M&M book she has written. it even surpasses Say it With Poison and A FinePLAce for Death!

The plot is great, and the fact that she has several chapters that concentrate on the murder case of Cora Oakley 110 years before just makes this book so refreshing and interesting. It must have been fun for her to write about a different policeman apart from Markby for a change!

Her characterisation and dialogue are as sharp as ever, and as i have said, the plot is great!

However, you should not start the series on this book. It is tremendous fun trackin the relationship of M&M throuought the series to hwere they are now (where that is i will not tell). you shoudl defineitely start with Say it With Poison, and ai guarantee that, within no time, you will have read all of her others and be on this one.

Can't she write quicker?

Difficult to put down 28 Sep 2001
Format:Paperback
Usually I avoid books that go backwards and forwards in time as I often get confused as to which time zone I am in, but having read all the other M&M books I couldn't ignore this one and I was glad that I didn't. Ms Granger's characters are so well rounded that one feels totally comfortable in either time zone and the book had me gripped until the last page; it is interesting to see the relationship between Markby and Meredith develop throughout the series and I can't wait for the next book.

The past presented! 27 May 2003
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
The author very successfully tells of events that happened in the past and interlaces them with the facts surrounding a murder that has taken place in present day. Not all writers are able to switch from past to present without confusing the reader or losing the thread of the modern-day mystery. Ann Granger not only carries it off, but is able to make both storylines gripping. As always, the relationship between Meredith Mitchell and Alan Markby provides an added interest, especially as only one of them is a "copper"!
