M. Vandegaer says:
is Amazon.co.uk going to participate in this preorder bonus?
http://www.bungie.net/projects/odst/features.aspx#johnson
"Ready to enlist? Sign up early by pre-ordering your copy of Halo 3: ODST at select retailers and get a token to unlock Sgt. Johnson for use in Firefight."

EDIT: YES, see the newest posts.

So, are we gonna get this too or are we short of luck just like with the flame warthog on Halo Wars?

M. Tunney says:
It's my concern too, amazons price for this is very competitive, just as it was for halo wars. But because of that i wonder if pre-ordering from amazon won't have the code

I'll investigate this.

M. Vandegaer says:
Is there any news on this?
I also don't see the collector's edition some stores are toting, Usually Amazon is among the first to come with such things.

M. Martin says:
It's been confirmed, since about 10 minutes ago, that the selected retailers are GameStop, Amazon, BestBuy and Walmart. Therefore for the UK, Amazon is our retailer for Sgt. Johnson.

Kat says:
Not entirely sure about that, the UK Amazon doesn't show the pre-order bonus that the american one does.

Think we should wait for the Amazon uk guy above to get back with a reply.

Only Amazon.com is.. not Amazon.co.uk. Thats unfair!

M. Vandegaer says:
nothing on the uk branch of amazon, are we Europeans gonna get discriminated AGAIN?

Posted on 13 Jun 2009 12:28:12 BDT
Why do they continually do this - it's like they don't realise that many of their customers live outside the US.

that does it, I'm cancelling my preorder, I'm tired of this kind of nonsense and discrimination against European customers. They've just ruined the preorder value for us Europeans.

I know it's not necessarily amazon UK's fault, but they could at least push MS into doing this, considering they're always screwing us over with the global exchange rates.

M. Vandegaer says:
I'm afraid that won't do a thing, bungie probably doesn't give a rat's arse about something like that.

I wouldn't bet on "Bungie not caring" quite so soon.

M. Vandegaer says:
that list has been posted here before, stays the same for amazon.co.uk:
-------------------------------------------------------------
Amazon.co.uk
Price: Regular: £37.96
Sgt. Johnson: They are not doing the codes
-------------------------------------------------------------

they(all game developers & publishers) should quit with such preorder bonuses nonsense, in the end there will always be people who get screwed over.
But in this case, I find it quite a sellout that the american amazon branch gets it, but the EU/UK branch doesn't, that's discrimination right there people!

Posted on 15 Jun 2009 15:34:06 BDT
that sucks, will somewhere like game have the code? because they did have the code for halo wars flaming warthog

In reply to an earlier post on 15 Jun 2009 15:37:36 BDT
M. Vandegaer says:
Hope so, if there were to be an EU or UK seller that does them, I'd hope Amazon would notice it in their sales of this game, give a clear message of how the customers feel about such nonsense.

In reply to an earlier post on 16 Jun 2009 03:33:25 BDT
This is stupid. Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk are almost the same people, why on Earth is it that only the Americans get the code? So far, Bungie has comfirmed that only American shops will be gving out the pre-order bonus, while us in the UK and the rest of Europe are left out! I just can't get my head round it!

Good things come to those who wait. Fingers crossed we'll have some good news on this for you later today! :)

M. Vandegaer says:
I really do hope so, I'm sure you understand just as well as we do that it sucks to see other people get benefits just based on the nation they live in.

One would think such things would be disappearing in the 21st century.

Interesting that GAME have withdrawn the LCE for sale (note - not sold out - withdrawn from sale). Makes me wonder if there aren't negotiations going on right now, I think the sitation will change soon for them and I suspect Amazon EU as well.
