These two characters are ducklings, and when Mummy tells them it's time to go home, they decide they want to keep on playing, and run away and have a lot of fun, "Quack! Pit-a-pat". They hide, and wait for Mummy to come and find them, but she doesn't come, and when it starts raining they decide they do want to go home after all. Mummy is waiting to put them onto her back and fly them into their dry bed, and all is well. Kim Lewis draws all the ducks as soft toys, with obvious stitching, which gives them a lovely squashy look, and she has always excelled at the pastel pastoral, complete with grasses and flowers in loving detail. This gentle book will make a comforting bedtime story for very young children.
