I wasn't expecting much more than your run of the mill light hearted romance when I started reading this, and to an extent that's what I got, but somehow it felt like more when I was reading it.

The relationship between Jasmine and Josh was so touching. The way he fought so hard to keep them together, despite the problems they faced, made me melt. All day at work I was distracted and waiting to get home to read the rest of the book to find out what happened (despite the fact that I found the Amy character no less irritating in this book than in its otherwise enjoyable predecessor 'Make me a Match').

In short, I can't really explain to you what made this book special, it just was!

A friend lent me this book to read, they told me I would love it. It's about Jasmine a debilitatingly shy girl, and Josh who is a movie star. Jasmine is a costume designer and applies for a job with Arturo she arrives at the interview but because he is a man (her phobia is about men) she just drops her portfolio and runs, Arturo thinking this was a dramatic ploy is impressed and she gets the job.her younger sister Amy is a psychic who has an ability to tell you the name of your one true love, jasmine's is Josh Toby, after getting the job with Arturo she is set to meet with him when she arrives to her amazement and horror the job entails making costumes for Josh Toby the movie star. This was a very good story quite original, the characters were well developed, I particularly liked Josh he was sexy passionate but sympathetic to others feelings, Jasmine was wreck but a nice wreck an incident had happened to her when she was younger which had caused her much anguish giving rise to her being unable to deal with men.Amy the younger sister was completely annoying I did not like her character at all. But this was a good book. My only real criticism is that I felt that the very strong emotional connection between Josh and Jasmine was not played out in their love scenes, those were underwhelming. Having said that I would recommend this book.

There are elements of this book that are clumsy and disjointed and elements that are charming and funny. The reason I only give three stars is that it never seemed to quite flow for me. There's no reason not to read this book, it would make a thoroughly enjoyable fluffy holiday read, the characters are likeable and those funny elements provide laugh out loud moments. It's not often that I actually laugh out loud at a book (usually I smile slightly whilst snickering in my head) but the writer puts her characters in some truly funny situations. The exchanges between Jasmine and Librarian Josh(there are two Joshes - one is a librarian, the other an actor) were very comical.

Those are the good bits.

The bad: there are times when I felt the author's voice to be quite childlike and underdeveloped. Jasmine (the heroine), who starts off shy and completely unable to talk to men, changes almost overnight when she meets her hero. There's no slow and interesting character development for Miss Holquist and as a result the humour created for Jasmine's character slows down. Actor Josh (the hero) is perfectly pleasant for the most part but didn't, for me, ellicit any great feeling. I found myself disappointed by the fact that the characters weren't stretched to their full potential.

The plot had the same problem - too much too soon and there was nothing held back for the second half of the book. Or nothing that I particularly cared to read anyway.

Again if I were to sum up why I don't give more than three stars to this book it is that while enjoyable it was frustrating knowing that with excellent ingredients Diana Holquist couldn't have done more when putting them together. There are parts of this book that reminded me of Susan Elizabeth Phillips, I just feel that she would have written the story better.

This book was fantastic! When I read about what it was about, I thought it sounded good, but when I read it, I thought it was brilliant! I was really upset when I finished it.

Well folks, the Hachette Book Group USA (Grand Central Publishing) have done it again! I have liked every book I've read that they have published and they've become my leading source for smart, fun chick lit. The latest absolutely, entertaining and, as addictive as fine Belgian chocolate gem I've read, is Sexiest Man Alive by the hilarious Diana Holquist. From the moment I picked up the book with its bare-chested stud muffin in a plush red towel lustily draped by perfectly manicured hands with cherry-coloured fingernails, I knew I was in for some fun! With the tag, "Every woman's dream just became her reality", I immediately flashed to my own fantasy with People magazine's current sexiest man alive, Hugh Jackman, and shuddered with the possibilities! What woman hasn't fantasized about getting it on with a famous movie star? If there is such a woman who exists out there, I'd like to know!

Sexiest Man Alive is the story of painfully shy, unknown costume designer, Jasmine Burns; a woman who becomes sick with shyness in the presence of attractive men and a very likeable character whom you find yourself rooting for all the way from the first pages. The unique thing about Jasmine is that she has a zany, psychic gypsy sister named Amy whose only power is that she can sometimes tell a person the name of their One True Love (when her spirit guide "Maddie" feels like telling her!) and the name of Jasmine's O.T.L. is the same as People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive, actor Josh Toby. It just so happens that movie star Josh is in New York City - incognito -to try to gain respect as a serious actor. He's preparing for his stage debut in the role of Romeo in Romeo and Juliet in an off-Broadway production of the famous play by Willy Shakespeare.
