DVD Description

Sex Lives of the Potato Men is a hilarious comedy that takes the concept of gross-out to new heights. The Potato Men, Dave (Johnny Vegas), Ferris (Mackenzie Crook), Tolly (Dominic Coleman) and Jeremy (Mark Gatiss) work for a potato distribution warehouse in Birmingham.

Dave longs for the soft porn lifestyle but he’s married with a kid. But when his wife throws him out, threesomes and group sex become a reality rather than a fantasy. Since his wife left, Ferris has taken full advantage of being young, free and single. But he’s also skint and forced to live with his mother-in-law who asks that her rent be paid in kind! Tolly, on the other hand, has never really recovered from his wife walking out on him. The whole ordeal has left him traumatized and the only way he can find satisfaction is by recreating his most memorable experiences with jam and fish paste sandwiches … Jeremy is the manager of the Potato Men and as such, thinks he’s a bit of a cut above the rest. He claims to enjoy wine, books and chess but in reality spends the majority of his spare time stalking his ex-girlfriend, sending her hate mail and kidnapping her dog. As their antics become ever more outrageous, you can’t help feeling that despite everything, there’s something of the Potato Men in every bloke.

4.0 out of 5 stars Viz Lives!!, 14 Aug 2005
By Kevin Wilson - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
When something is as universally panned as this was you start with pretty low expectations. Notwithstanding, the naffness of a truly bad film will still shine through despite the viewers best efforts to give it a chance and prove the professional reviewers wrong (White Noise comes to mind here). Having said all that. SLotPM is not a bad film. In fact its a very good film, on more than one level. Its a very successful transition of the gross-out, British working class obsessions and reactions to the world as epitomised by Viz comic. It superficially continues and extends the 'saucy postcard' spirit of British 70s sex comedies (the 'Confessions' films et al). Yes they were awful but this is an affectionate pisstake of the genre. Finally Johnny Vegas' character comes to realise, as we all do, that there is far more to life than living like a pig on take-away food, sharing a flat with a mate with even worse personal habits than your own, and indulging whatever sexual whims blow through your mind, either via real women, pornography or phone sex lines. Mackenzie Crook once again proves himself a superb actor. Just watch his timing. All in all this works well. Only one slight reservation, no female flesh!! Haha... I do hope the decision not to film the actresses with their tops off wasnt a sop to the dreaded political correctness.

This film is one of the funniest films i have seen in a long time johnny vegas is golden and macenzie crook is even better when i read in the papers about this film all it got was bad reveiws but the humor is quick lots of one liners and a lot of familier faces that really shone in this the genre of the film which follows four potato delivery men in birmingham and there quest for sex is hilerious better than all the hype over films like the full monty this is a guaranteed crack up you'll love it!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised.
It is a very crude, filthy, funny and very near the knuckle type of film.
Anyone that finds very blue comedy funny will enjoy this.
If your a Nun avoid at all costs!!!!!
