Product Description

Sex has been the common currency of Hollywood from the beginning. The early tycoons packed their epics with ravishing dancing girls and frequently used the casting couch to decide who should be rocketed to star status. Hollywood has always used sex to sell but in the early days went to great lengths to cover up the erring ways of their tops stars. The screen goddesses of Hollywood could have anybody, and frequently did. The roll call of their lovers ranged from the producers and directors they met on the way up to the money-grabbing no-goods they bumped into on the way down. In the previous volume Nigel Cawthorne lifted the lid on Hollywood sex - the wild parties, secret lovers, sordid pasts and tragic endings - and in this new volume he does the same for a whole batch of new screen legends including Ingrid Bergman, Anita Ekberg, Jayne Mansfield, Mae West, Dorothy Dandridge, Susan Hayward and many more.

From the Author

The newest books in my Sex Lives series have a list of all the
personalities that appear the books, so you can play "International Daisy
Chain". This is a game invented, not by me, but by Truman Capote. Pick any
two people from the list and see how many lovers you need to daisy chain
between them. The player who joins them with the least lovers wins. Play it
at home or in bed - or why not try a game of "Strip Daisy Chain"?

Exhausting! 31 Dec 2006
Format:Paperback
I read this book for some light relief at the end of the academic year and regarding this I was not disappointed. If anyone out there is frustrated at their humdrum life, I strongly suggest you read this book - the bed/partner/husband hopping is enough to wear you out, as is trying to keep track of who is with whom!!

However, that aside, the thing that really spoiled my experience of this book was the dreadful editing. Sentences which didn't seem to make any sense, capital letters appearing in the middle of words etc. It became so bad that half way through the book I began circling the mistakes with a pencil because I couldn't believe there were so many.

The cover of the book I have is different to the one shown here although the title/author is the same, so it may be that I have a rushed copy, but I have to say that the poor editing made the book a bit of a trial to read.

A truly enjoyable read. Nigel Cawthorne writes with style and panache. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the juicy tidbits and Nigel's always amusing comments. I am a huge fan of Mr Cawthorne's and look forward to reading his next published book, which I hope I won't have to wait too long for. I am addicted to his books!
